Husqvarnaviking Jade 20 buttonhole Lever

If the buttonhole lever on your Husqvarna Viking Jade 20 sewing machine is not lowering enough to reach the buttonhole foot, it may be misaligned or not properly adjusted. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the Buttonhole Foot: Ensure that the buttonhole foot is properly installed and in the correct position. If the foot is not positioned correctly, it may interfere with the buttonhole lever.
  2. Check the Buttonhole Lever: Inspect the buttonhole lever for any damage or debris that may be causing it to get stuck or misaligned. Clean the lever and surrounding area with a soft, dry cloth.
  3. Adjust the Buttonhole Lever: You may need to adjust the position of the buttonhole lever to ensure that it aligns with the buttonhole foot. Refer to your sewing machine's manual for instructions on how to adjust the buttonhole lever.
  4. Contact a Professional: If you are still experiencing issues with the buttonhole lever, it may be best to contact a professional sewing machine repair technician who can diagnose and fix the issue.
It's possible that other users may have experienced a similar issue with the buttonhole lever on the Husqvarna Viking Jade 20 sewing machine. You may want to search online forums or communities dedicated to sewing and sewing machine repairs to see if there are any helpful tips or solutions.

Instructions for making a buttonhole

The method will depend on your make & model machine, although the vintage sewing machine buttonhole method will work on all zig-zag machines (just requires manually measuring and adjusting the stitch length & width during the process):

Be sure there is a stabilizer between the fabric where the buttonhole is located so the fabric will not stretch or tear.

How do make buttonholes with the Necchi 3102? I followed the instructions from the manual but cannot get the machine to properly make the buttonhole. Any suggestions? Persimmon

Expand exactly the symptoms of what is not working with your buttonhole function. There are generally 5 or 6 steps to a built-in buttonhole, so we need to know which function(s) is/are not working.

How to Make Buttonhole on Your Sewing Machine Sew4Home

BTW, any zig-zag sewing machine can be used to make buttonholes without the built-in buttonholer or a buttonhole foot. The built-in buttonholer just took the manual method and made a dial to switch to the next step. You can do that manually on your machine. You just need to perform each step manually: knot-on, stitch the bartack, zig-zag forward, bartack, zig-zag backward, and tie-off. I've made many buttonholes manually on sewing machines before having a machine with built-in buttonhole or a buttonhole foot. Just be sure to practice on some scrap fabric first before trying it on your garment.

Need instructions for Singer buttonhole attachment 103233.

I found a manual for several Singer Buttonholers here: http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/manuals/singer-sewing-machine-manuals.html . I'm not sure of the part number for the Professional Buttonholer Model, which looks like the one for my Singer Touch & Sew. Mine is part #161829 (if I read the box correctly).

I hope these help.

I have a 9960 singer machine and am trying to use the buttonhole presser foot for the first time and I can not get it to sew T

the buttonhole foot snaps on to the presser bar, there's a little lever at the back of the presser bar that releases the foot, then put the buttonhole foot down on the needle plate & use the presser foot lifter (number 11) to lower the presser bar down onto the buttonhole foot & you'll hear a click sound when it snaps on & make sure to use the buttonhole lever(number 31) because the machine won't sew a buttonhole unless that lever is pulled down.

Automatic BUTTONHOLE making with 979:
  1. Carefully mark the position of buttonhole on your garment.
  2. Slide the button carrier and insert the button.
  3. Attach the buttonhole foot.
  4. Place the garment under the foot so that the needle pierces the fabric at the beginning of buttonhole.
  5. Lower the buttonhole lever and the presser foot lever.
  6. Push the buttonhole lever away from you.
  7. Start machine to complete entire buttonhole.
NOTE:
  • While making buttonholes, maintain an even sewing speed for uniform buttonholes.
  • When buttonholes are completed, be sure to push up the buttonhole lever as gar as it can go.

Instructions for buttonhole 40. I do not have instructions for making a 40 automatic buttonhole.

Instructions are on page 132 of the manual. Use either foot 5A or No.10 (which is more complicated). Select stitch No.40 then enter the length of the buttonhole you want to make using the number keys. If you want to define where the second bartack goes manually, press key 6 (under "Man") and you will have to press the Reverse key when the second row is where you want to finish the buttonhole. You will not be able to repeat this same size buttonhole automatically if you chose Manual bartack. By pressing OK after setting the length of the buttonhole you will be presented with a screen where you can adjust the width of the buttonhole (wider for heavy fabrics, narrower for finer fabrics) if you want.

Need instructions on button holes

Move the width bar to between 4 and 6, the higher number makes a wider buttonhole. Move the length bar to the middle or right of the buttonhole icon. Set the selector dial on #1, snap on the buttonhole foot with a button snugged up in the back slot. Pull down the button stop lever behind the needle threader and make sure it is lower than the edge of the buttonhole foot, and behind the little tab on the left side of the buttonhole foot. Position the needle over where you want the bottom of the buttonhole to be. It will bartack, sew backwards, bar tack and sew forward based on the size of your button. When it is finished it will stop sewing. Turn the stitch selector dial to #2 to reset, then back to #1 to sew the next buttonhole. Practice on scraps until you are happy with the stitch length and width.
