850 960 S90 V90 92 - 97 Anti Theft Alarm Relay Logo
Amber Swisher Posted on Oct 28, 2013

I have a 1998 v70 xc awd. My alarm is going off and I cannot turn it off, therefore the car will not start. The alarm horn was disabled by the previous owner of the car so that is not a problem, just the lights flash. I do not have a key with lock/unlock/alarm buttons attached and the key that I do have only opens the back hatch. Also, the automatic locks stopped working so I thought I would lock/unlock them manually but now the rear passenger door will not unlock no matter how hard I pull the lock up. Not sure if that is a separate issue or not. I don't know how to turn the alarm off without being able to lock and unlock the doors.

SOURCE: 1997 Volvo 960 It worked fine

Dave Burton (Volvo GOD) / top Volvo relay vendor in the Internet has this page for your reference,

LINK HERE

The relay tray is under the empty center console tray. //// mounted side way. (picture on the bottom)

The reply and relay socket question is label as relay "C"

Check for burn on the base of the relay,burn smell,corrosion on pin(s),and bad socket base.

Give the relay "C" a firm press to re-sit it.

If it does no work then you will need to do some "known good" relay swap to see does the trouble follow.

I recommend you to re-sit and inspect each relay before do the swapping.

Keep a good record on which relay you are swapping around.
=====
Also try your 2nd / spare key fob remote to see does it unlock the doors.
=====
Last item.....never assume, Check the battery voltage at the battery posts. It should be 12.8V +

XC AWD. Why is check engine light still on?

Why did you replace the 02 sensors? These monitor the amount of air/fuel in the exhaust. If the engine is running too rich/lean the code will return regardless of replacing these sensors. What code did you get?

The 1st things you need to do is have the engine control module scanned for fault codes and the fuel pressure tested for proper specs.

My 1999 xc v70 awd volvo wagon has a rear brake getting hot

the first thing you want to check is whether or not it has a heavy drag at the wheel caused by wrong pads, sticking caliper, improperly installed parts. Lift the car and try to turn the wheel. Just because they are certified does not mean they know everything. I'm certified too, but I also have experience with euros and the quality of parts that need to be used. If inferior quality parts are used it will cause this. It can create all kinds of problems and noises. Take it back until they get it right. Ask them what brand of parts they use. Let me know and if they give you any grief, contact me and I will advise accordingly.

My blower on my 1998 volvo v70 xc is not blowing

The most common problem is either the blower motor or the speed control resistor. Both items can be accessed by removing the glove box and panel below it.

Volvo V70 xc AWD '98 - fuel filter change

Brandonlo168,

The fuel filter can be located under the carpeted cargo storage floor at the rear of the wagon. Remove the four 10mm bolts, remove the cover. You will then see a removeable plate to the right just behind the rear passenger seat. Fuel filter can be seen through hole in hole. Replaced from underneath wagon. Be sure to make sure lines are fully inserted onto filter. Check for leaks. No smoking, extinguisher handy. Note arrow on filter for correct fuel flow.
