What lens do you have attached? If it's an older lens with the electronics, the camera will not be able to communicate with it and thus report lens not attached. You can switch to manual mode and still use the lens, but you'll have to set the exposure without any assistance from the camera's light meter.
It it is a more modern lens with the electronics, try cleaning the contacts on the back of the lens and in the mount on the body.
