Sometimes it best to go to a different computer, reset the password on GOOGLE mail there. Then go to your tablet, find the "settings" function and enter your newly reset password in the field of your mail account.
go to Settings
mail,contacts,calendars
choose Gmail
choose Account
go down to password field and enter your updated password
Click DONE
then go back to your GOOGLE mail and see if it opens
