Does it refuse to do so or does it give an error message?
Three common errors:

  1. Not having the correct angle unit. Wrong result, No error message
  2. Confusing reciprocal of sine (1/sin(x) with arc sine (x) ,sin^-1(x). Confusing the reciprocal of cosine, 1/cos(x) with arc cosine (cos^-1(x)). Wrong result, No error message
  3. Taking the argument of the inverse sine and/or inverse cosine functions outside the interval [-1,1]. This gives a domain error.

SOURCE: TI-84 Plus silver edition sin/cos/tan

for function = (sin,cos,tan,sec,cosec,cotan)
arc(function) = function^-1, calculated in the first quadrant for simplicity(0-pi/2) (0-90deg), as all functions repeat circularly
just another method of notation

SOURCE: Using Cos/Sin

Calculator turns on in "degree" mode. Just enter angle in degrees then press "SIN", "COS" "TAN".

Most people work in degrees but you can switch to Rads or Grads to Degrees modes by pressing "DRG" repeatedly with zero displayed, Current angular mode will show in display.

SOURCE: how do i use the inverse log operation on the TI-84

The problem is simple. You're trying to get an [H+] concentration which is obviously going to have a value of some number times ten raised to a negative power. Therefore, you have to insert the negative value of the pH into the 10^(x). When you insert said negative number you will come out with the right answer.
i.e.
The pH of a sample of human blood was calculated to be 7.41. What is the [H+] concentration of the blood?
10^(-7.41) = [H+]
[H+] = 3.9 E-8
(the answer should only have two sig. figs because the pH has two digits after the decimal.

SOURCE: How do I calculate the inverse log on the TI-89?

Hello,
The wrong terminology is playing tricks on you.

  1. If you are talking about the natural logarithms, the inverse function of the natural log is the exponential: ln(e^(x))=e^(ln(x)) = x
  2. If you are talking about the common logarithms (log in base 10) to find the antilog of a number, say x, you raise 10 to the power of x.
Exemple: What is the antilog ( that is the name, not inverse log) of 0.345?
Answer; antilog of 0.345 = 10^(0.345) =2.21309471

Look at the last two commands on the screen capture.

SOURCE: Using the correct key combination to determine inverse log

Hi,
Sorry to contradict you but there are many types of logarithms, the most important ones are

  1. the common logarithms (log in base 10),
  2. the natural logarithms (logarithms in base e)
  3. the binary logarithms (logarithms in base 2)
On calculators, the common logarithms are labeled [LOG], and the natural logarithms are labeled [LN].

The inverse function of the natural log function is the exponential (e^(x)), and the inverse of the log in base ten function is the function ten to the power of. It is called (sometimes) the antilog

Ex:
Question What is the antilog of 3.5678?
Answer The antilog of 3.5678 is 10^(3.5678) = 3696.579068
Verification: log(3696.57908) =3.5678

Hope it helps.

How do you calculate sec174?

SEC, CSC & COT are the INVERSE of COS, SIN & TAN and are usually require hitting the "2nd F" or "Func" key of the calc to make:

SIN button work as COSEC,

COS button work as SEC

TAN button work as COT

Formulas are below:

sec x = 1
cos x

cosec x = 1
sin x

cot x = 1 = cos x
tan x sin x

Good luck!

How can i calculate sin cos tan and see the result in degree mins and seconds in my calculator kadio kd82lc

When you calculate the sine cosine and tangent, the results you get are pure numbers: They have no dimensions or units because sin cos and tan are ratios of lengths.
However if you are calculating inverse trigonometric functions the results are angles, and they have units.
Use the mode key to set the angle unit to degree. after you calculate the inverse trigonometric functions, your results will be expressed in the angle unit you set in the configuration. If angle unit is degree you will get decimal degrees. To convert to DMS, use the key to the right of the change sign key (-). It is marked with degree symbol followed by what looks like a a double quote and a single quote.

Using inverse cosign and inverse sin always bring up domain errrors. For example, I used the equation COS -1(185 / -20) . And it always came up with domain error. This is the same equation my teacher gave...

Make sure your calculator is in degree mode.
It is probably in radian mode so it can't calculate the inverse sin.
To change this, go to Mode -> Deg.
Hope this helps, cheers!

How to use calculator on how to evaluate trigonometric functions

The FX-115ES is somewhat different to other calculators you might know. The sequence of keys is more like writing up a calculation in a textbook, whereas for "normal" calculators operations are reversed in some places.
For example, with most calculators you would type 30 [sin] to calculate the sine function of 30 degrees, with the 115ES its [sin] 30 [=].

The 115ES has all the standard trigonometric functions:
  • Standard functions (sin, cos, tan), type the [sin], [cos] or [tan] key followed by the argument.
  • Inverse trigonometric (sin?¹, cos?¹, tan?¹), type [SHIFT][sin], [SHIFT][cos] or [SHIFT][tan] followed by the argument.
  • Hyperbolic functions (sinh, cosh, tanh), type [HYP][sin], [HYP][cos], or [HYP][tan] followed by the argument.
  • and finally inverse hyperbolic (sinh?¹, cosh?¹, tanh?¹), its [SHIFT][HYP][sin], [SHIFT][HYP][cos], or [SHIFT][HYP][tan] followed by the argument.
Arguments can be given as numbers with mantissa (2.718), as fractions (use the fraction key below [CALC]) or as degree, minute, second (30°12'45") using the [°'"] key for input. To switch between degrees (1 circle = 360°), radians (1 circle = 2?), or grad (1 circle = 400 gon), use [SHIFT][DRG>].

I have a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition calculator and I need to find the inverse key to get values for sin, cos, tan, csc, sec, cot. I'm past the lesson where you use the 2nd/sin, cos tan to find the...

There are no keys for cosecant, secant, and cotangent. You can calculate those ratios as

csc(x) = 1/sin(x)

sec(x) = 1/cos(x)

cot(x) = 1/tan(x)

Simply calculate the trig ratio on the right and then take its reciprocal.

How do you use the sin-1

You would press on the SIN key, "sin(" should come on the display, then enter the value, for example 3.5 or -1 so that the display shows

sin(3,5) or sin(-1) for example.

remember to close the sin with the ) on the end.
sin(-1) = -0.841470985

How do I put cosecant, secant, and cotangent functions into my ti-84 plus?

By definition
  1. cosecant of X =1/sin(X), must not be confused with arc sine [sin^-1]
  2. secant of X =1/cos(X), must not be confused with arc cosine [cos^-1]
  3. cotangent of X =1/tan(X), must not be confused with arc tangent [tan^-1]
Because of these simple relations, calculator makers do not implement them with specific key sequences.
On this calculator, you have two ways to calculate one of these functions. EX cosecant of 37 degrees
  1. You enter 1 / [sin] 37 [ ) ] [ENTER] result is 1.661640141
  2. You enter [sin] [ ) ] 37 [ENTER] followed by [X^-1] to take the reciprocal of the previous answer. The [X^-1] key is the one just below [MATH].
A word of caution: secant cosecant and cotangent must not be confused with the inverse trigonometric functions arcsin, arccos, arctan
