Tighten the two air screws to just tight then slacken them to one and a half turns start the engine and adjust the low screw until tick over then open the throttle to full and adjust the high screw if it cuts out take the high screw to one turn and try that then adjust from there

We would need to know what model we are refering too, a good rule of thumb is 1 turn out on each, then fine tune from there, some models are different to this.

SOURCE: What tool is needed to adjust the carburetor on a husqvarna 240 chainsaw

The splined Poulan Carb Adjustment Tool, 530035560, which was readily available for less than $20.00 before 2013, has become scarce and bottom the feeders are price gouging. Check ecrater.com and curtschainsawparts.com. I just received one and it is the quality item at very reasonable price, $14.00

Craftsman chainsaw chainsaw troubleshooting .....mine runs with choke on but speeds up and cuts off when i take choke off?

Denise,
Check to see if the boot between the carbureator and the engine has a crack in it, if it is cracked air will leak in causing a lean mixture and hard starting. Also will not run unless the choke is on.

What is carburetor setting on a2.3 chainsaw

There is no fixed carburetor setting on these engines, just two screws to adjust low-end and high-end operation. Special tool may be required, there are about a half-dozen screw head standards. Check eBay for tool. Get the engine to run and idle fast (idle adjust) so it doesn't stall, adjust low-end screw so that engine doesn't hesitate or sputter when accelerated. Adjust high-end screw to run fast and smooth on full throtle. Readjust idle to normal.

Can't start chainsaw

Walter:

gently run the fuel and air mixture screws on the carburetor all the way closed (clockwise).then turn them out one and a quarter turns each. That setting should allow the saw to start if you are getting fuel to the carburetor. Once the saw starts, make fine adjustments to the fuel/air mixture screws until the saw runs to your satisfaction.

Adjust carburetor gas and air intake on craftsman chainsaw

There is too much information to relay so I would suggest you go to Searspartsdirect.com and type in your saw number and on the right side there is an area for a manual. You will need to use your email addy and select a password for this but it is free. You can view or download the manual and the area you need is on page 15. Let me know if this won't work and I will copy and retype info requested.
