Dell Monitor...about 4 years old; no issues at all. 2 days ago, while I was away from the computer, instead of the screen saver, I noticed that the screen had fast flashes going on the screen - and the power light was blinking green intermittently. You could not shut the monitor off (like the power button was useless). I unplugged it, turned off the pc, plugged it back in and it was fine. Yesterday, it happened two times. Today it has happened 3 times. Today I ensured that the connection to the CPU was good (I removed, ensured there was no dust, etc.) and plugged it back in. It worked. But has just happened again. seems like you have to unplug the monitor from electrical power supply, shut the pc down, wait a little when, then reconnect and turn it back on and it's fine. Ideas ?

no there is no such thing as display driver.
the monitor is bad, if the buttons are dead.
my guess is one button is stuck on,.
that monitor can plug in to any PC made with no drivers at all.

only resolution matters, set that to.
1280 x 1024 at 75 Hz (60 to 75Hz)
test the monitor on 2 PC, if its bad its bad. end story.
surely you have access to 2 PC, the bad PC and one known to be good. and DO not set resolution above the above.

Make sure the USB connector to your computer is properly connected before startup. Do you connect your monitor with both a VGA and USB cables? Check your USB connection and then try replacing the USB cord to start with the proces of elimination. Don't forget to rate this answer if it helped fix your problem. Incidentally, anything less that 4 thumbs up is basicaly a negative rating and I don't think people seeking help are aware of that.
Hi, There could be a problem with your display card settings or the display card itself. If you are using Windows operating system, make sure that you have the monitor driver installed for that specific monitor. This is to ensure that Windows only allows settings for which your particular monitor was designed. Let me know if I can assist you any further regarding this. Best wishes, Graemevm
