My PS3 shuts down after about 5 minutes when playing PS3 games. It will play PS2 games, DVDs, and Blue ray movies for hours with no problem though. I took it to game stop, and after a month they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it and gave it back unfixed. Anyone have any ideas here?
The first thing I would do is a System Update!!!!!! This happened to me playing Army of Two until I Updated it. With games and Some Blu-Rays (Iron Man I had the same problem) require updates to play and function properly! Just hook up to your Network (Router or Modem) Create a Playstaion store account (To the Right on the PS3 Crossbar) Then go to the 2nd to left on the Crossbar, Then all the way up. Grab the update and you should be Good! This happened Twice to me, So now I always update and No probs! Good Luck!

hold the power button down when it is red till you hear the quick beeps then select the file restore this is a diagnostics menu..remember you have to hold the power button down till you see a menu that youve probably never seen
