I have an old steam account but don't remember the codes to get in to it. I am trying to download a game to play from a cd and signed up for a new steam account and I have some games on the old account. When downloading this older game that I had on the old account I get an error message that my internet connection or your site is down. I only play all games on single player, never online. Why do I have to even use steam?? My email is [email protected] I need this straightened out right now.

The main thing you have to remember is the sign in. The password you can recover at PSN.com. If you can't remember your e-mail address you used, you will have to make a new account. Everything tying to your old account will be gone, except what you have already installed from your old account.

Wild tangent is software HP has a contract with to have the software be put on all hp laptops/desktops. I would suggest removing it cause the games you want to play are all trial and require you in the end to pay for it. As example some games can be played let say up to level 5, then afterwards you have to pay for it if you want to save the progress and move on to the next level.

My suggestion is just get steam, create an account, pay for the games you want and let it download and install. Once its done, you can play without any issue. You may get some free games from steam, if you simply just sign up.

You can't copy the game files from the old PC even if you had it. Unless you have a friend who also has the same version of the game, you can't really do much with it.
I checked ebay out, and found several sellers who have the game for $10-15, but the best deal I found was from Steam (www.store.steampowered.com) They have the newer version of Heroes 5 for only 6.69 this week only, normally it's 9.99 but still a good deal, or you can get both expansion packs for $20.07 on sale (reg. 29.99).
It's a good deal but Steam is an online thing, so you download it instead of receiving a game disc. It's handy though, because if you ever need to re-install it, you can through steam, and you don't need codes or anything either.

I have the exact same problem don't call sony it won't work they will give you a bunch of automation messages (I know iv'e tried) try calling sony later when they have the psn fully back up, also try all your email accounts (assuming you have more than 1) if u can't remember one try asking your friend or something they might know since they probably have you on contacts. The final reason is make a new account and restart everything (not reccomended)

Your going to need to contact steam they will send you a new username and password,then you can get your code back.Or they will find your old one.

When you registerd with steam you used your e mail address for verification,this is all you need to get your account info back.

Also steam is only a middleman you must of got the game from one of steams providers,like digital download,or someone else.Check with the game manufacture also,E A games or whoever made it you would have had to create an accout there to get the code.

Hello ste_casey, You might want to try to recover your password from your old account. Try the following to get a new password:

• Open up the steam client.
• Click "Retrieve a lost account in the window"
• Answer the questions based on what you know.

Researching your issue, I found a workaround that would fix it. You need to download the directx sdk from microsoft. Download, then install it, then try again. Let me know if you are still having the issue afterwards.
