I read a few answers to your problem, one is if it came with a "Y" style pigtail for the USB you need to connect both USB plugs, second that model has a improper alloy in its soldered connections and there is some soer of recall underway, try consumer reports for more information on the recall, mentioned something like a 100.00 refund avail. on certain models, good luck,Gary

To get a harddrive upto 1TB with new bulk, what should pick?

Larry the Fixya Computer Guru says;

  • Anonymous Jan 19, 2021this question makes zero sense.
No PC told, no telling if HDD is boot drive.
no told OS you run, windows 10?
we can not see over your shoulder and know what is in your had.

tell what PC you have. first.
    gee, golly wise, man.
then is this a 2nd drive to add or the boot drive now to be replaced
    ????

    1TB drives come in.
    SSD 2.5":
    SSD m.3
    2.5" HDd
    3.5" HDd.
and more, sata and scsi and sas and FiberCh.
    and more.

1TB tells me not a thing, even external drives.

or if super lost post photo of your PC first.

    Do not buy a bulk
    it will fail.
    My PC boots from m.2
and has 3 SSD and 1 HDD
    and external HDD.6TB
    and uSB stick,(boxes of them)
    and internal blueray drive, BD-r.
what are you trying to do.? with what.

tell what PC you have first.
and why needed, PC dead, OS dead.
    or just need backup space.
    internal or external drives .what?

the SSD 1TB is $100 can you afford that?
    ? if yes get that.
forget HDD if not backing up 1000 movies.

It dosen't works it make a sound like(tic tic tic about 5 second and will shut down)

HDD , if the power is good, is it? full spec voltage.
most FAST 1tb drives need a power pack,
has a 7 year warranty their home page states, so why not use that.
no HDD should make load noises, only ear close whiling sound.
soft ear close tics very very quiet is normal, load , NEVER.
if it makes noise say at arms distances that is bad.
2 causes:
1: the power pack is not plugged in, or missing or wrong pack used? (never run HDD with missing pack or wrong one.
2: drive bad. (bad drives click, when bad)
it can be the drive bad, or the power regulator toasted.

7 years. is a very long time. read the rules on your warr, card.

do not ever block the cooling slots of any HDD, case. ever.
or it will overheat, all fast drives can overheat, easy.
make sure that dont happen.

I want unlock hdd hitachi 1TB, you could hepl me ? thank you

My drive became locked with a password or I forgot my hard drive password. How do I gain access to my data?

Answers from Hitachi : Unfortunately, there is no way to bypass the security password feature of Hitachi hard disk drives. If the password is not known or has been misplaced, Hitachi will not be able to assist in gaining access to the data on the drive.

Hi there, the red light on my ps3 is blinking and it wont take disc either. So what is the problem with it? thanks!

The Red light is due to the HDD (hard drive). There is one of 2 problems: 1. The connection is loose or 2. The HDD is just bad. This was an issue that has been discussed over in the Playstation forums and it seems that re-seating (removing & reinstalling) the HDD has solved the problem for many but some people have just received bad hard drives period. If you reinstall the HDD & it still beeps 3 times & gives you the red light, then you will have to replace your HDD. If I remember correctly, PS3s use Hitachi Laptop Drives. IMO, Hitachi is not well known for good drives. I replaced mine with a 160GB Western Digital drive I got for free a few months ago. I haven't had any problems since. Hitachi makes a good drive, but the ones that fail seem to fail really bad. Western Digital seems to make the best drives and

Is it safe to keep data cable connected without power cable

It is perfectly safe to remove the power cable from a hard drive but leave the data cable connected. Make sure that whenever you want to connect or disconnect the power cable, your computer has been shut down first. You could do it with the computer powered on as well, but this would not be good practice and you may put errors on your drive.

Problem with Hitachi 1TB external hard drive

Most likely you just burnt up the adaptor. You can order another one from Hitachi.

The data is probably still intact on the drive itself.
You can connect it to your computer with an adapter that plugs into the drive itself and the usb port on your computer. It then shows up as a drive letter as normal.
You can buy these sata to usb adapters at most computer stores for around $25. Tiger has a nice selection:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/search.asp?keywords=sata%20to%20usb%20adapter

I would pick one with an external power supply. It also connects to your hd. The ends are keyed so you can't miss-plug them.

Or find a local computer tech (most have this cable in our toolkit) and he probably will copy your data in a few minutes for you.

My external hard drive (HD) simply stopped working, should be no disk reading/ writing problems, the power is getting to the HD, but not to the drive as it does not spin, so from my own personal knowledge...

Sorry, but no spin, no win! Your hard drive enclosure has encountered a sever knock to cause headslap in the drive. You can rescue the data by purchasing a usb drive data reader kit. You take the drive out of the enclosure, attach the cables and plug it into a usb 2 port. You should be able to read the data no problem. Make sure you connect all cables to the drive, and it should be problem free for you.
