Where can i get hayward multiport valve model sp 715

This problem occurs when the "spider" gasket inside the multiport valve fails. This repair can be done by a homeowner but requires a few things. 2 c-clamps, the new spider gasket, and chlorine safe adhesive/caulk to seat the gasket.

I dont know what model multi-port valve you have as there are 3 model that fit on this filter. Here is the link to haywards manual site where you can find a manual on your filter, and your valve that will list instructions and part numbers.

First with pump off be sure multi-port valve is turned to filter. Then start pump. If you then have water coming out of the waste outlet, then you're "spider" gasket may be bad. You will need the model number of the valve (SP710 or Sp 715 as an example, there are many other models) With the pump off you can remove the top of the valve. Depress handle before removing screws. Be sure the valve top is in the correct position when re-assembling. Only switch vavle with pump off, and handle depressed.

If you just removed the multiport valve to do the sand change and did not take it apart, there should not be any problems. You may need to take the multiport valve apart to see that the spider gasket is in place. Also, if you did not fill the tank with water up to the level of the laterals at the bottom before adding sand, you may have broken a lateral and it's allowing sand to return to the pool. I would check the spider gasket first. Also check the spring and stem to make sure that it is actually changing positions inside.

Hayward 711A13 Vari flow valve. When I push down the handle to move valve into other settings the handle does not want to relock into the next setting. I have to manually pull up un the back of the handle and tap with my hand to get spring to retract. What can I do to lubricate this sping inside?

Either you have a bad spider gasket inside the multiport valve or a bad threaded fitting going into it. Check for leaks around the multiport and backwash line. You'll have to take apart the multiport valve to make sure the spider gasket is not damaged or out of place. Make sure to install the multiport valve in the same position. You can get a replacement gasket at most pool supply stores or online.
