NEC DTR 16 phone has a solid red light that wont turn off, usually it does when I delete my messages but this time it continues to indicate that I have 1 message and when I check it the voice on the other end says there are no messages. Please help!!!

I do not deal with your system but I see similar problems in other phone systems. This MAY be what is happening...

 

The message light can be a voice mail indicator OR someone on another phone in the building can leave you an intercom message (no voice system used or required). In those cases you need to return the message by pressing the MSG button, this should make the phone ring that left you the message in the first place. That phone needs to be answered to return the message and cause your light to stop flashing.

You may be right about it coming from another extension! If that is the case you need to return the message by pressing the key, finding out what extension is ringing and answer the phone otherwise the message will never be returned and the message light will stay on.

Quite an annoying feature with many phone systems. Nobody ever uses the feature and people have no idea what's happening when someone else accidentally presses the wrong key at the wrong time.

Thankfully I have found a solution that has worked.

A 'winking' (flashing) feature button indicates the station is in call forward - all calls mode.

To cancel this setting do the following

Lift the handset or press speaker
Dial the access code 4 + 2 (set as default)
Receive confirmation tone and restore handset or press speaker

You have to change the rings from the voice mail server. If you don't know your way around the server, its best to get a local NEC tech although it is fairly simple to navigate. Depends on your skill. Typical default password for the server is NEC

During an incoming call try holding the up arrow on the volume key. That is the only way I know to increase or decrease the volume of the ring. The phone might also be set on DND. in which case you have to Press feature dial the DND cancel code 69 press feature. My Uniden M/N:D1788-2 is not working correctly. It will only ring once before machine picks up & red light continues flashing.

Likely the two ring answer is "toll saver" You'll need to retrieve new messages. Once all new messages have been reviewed, it should return to the programmed number of rings, see "ring time" in the manual.

ALL messages may be deleted as follows;
delete all messages With the phone in standby, press Delete; press Delete again to confirm.


If answering system messages have been retrieved, a continuing flashing indicator could be your voice mail service;

Voice Message Notification • If you subscribe to a voice mail service, your phone can notify you when you have a new message. This feature supports Frequency-Shift Keying (FSK) notification. Contact your voice mail provider for information. • When you have new messages, the display shows a message icon. After you listen to your messages, the message icon turns off. My NEC DVL(XD)Z-Y (BK)phone has a red blinking light for reception button. No one knows the mailbox code since the receptionist was replaced. How do I reset code or stop light from fast flashing red?

These instruction are for a Univerge-SV8100
To Delete a Security code, the greeting, messages or recorded name in a personal voicemail box:
1. From any phone with Admin rights (Usually ext 101)
2. Press the message button
3. Enter security code if there is one
4. Dial 72 to access System Admin
5. Press SUBS soft-key (in display)
6. Dial the extension number you want to change
7. Press the available softkey in the display or 7 to delete the security code.
Be careful when you are in the admin part of the programming because you can really mess up the voice mail if you do something wrong. To check what type of phone system you have look for a NEC box in your phone room or server room. The complete PDF is here

Does a lamp error message (6 blinking red status lights) mean the lamp needs to be replaced? or could something else be wrong.

According to NEC technical support, if the status light flashes red six times, this could indicate a defective lamp. If a new lamp is installed and the project still won't turn on, the projector will need service.

All messages have been deleted but message button keeps binking?????//

Most of the time your home phone service has a digital voice mail like your cell phone does. If the answering machine is set for an amount of rings that is too long the digital voice mail service will answer before your machine. The new cordless phone indicators do show messages on your digital voice mail as well as the answering machine. Depending on your home service, most of the time when you press talk and you hear a different non standard dial tone(mine pulses 3 times before going to solid dial tone) you have a digital message. You need to delete this message before the indicator light will stop flashing. Then set up you digital voice mail for a longer pickup time! This should get rid of this problem.

My message light is still on after erasing the voicemail message. What can I do to turn the light off?

is the nec dsx telephone voicemail light red or green...?
if it's green, it's not the voicemail light, rather, it's the caller id missed call indicator. just look through your missed calls and it will go out... or if you have the admin software, go to class of service, station, and disable the caller-id alert lamp.

Status light blinking red

If it is a lamp error try this:
When the lamp exceeds 2100 hoursof service, the projector cannot turn on and the manu is not displayed. Do the following:
For VT670/VT470 Press the help button on the remote control for a minimum of ten seconds.

For VT570/VT47 Press and hold the power and the exit buttons on the remote control simultaneously for a minimum of ten seconds. When the lamp time clock is reset to zero, the lamp indicator goes out. Hope this helps! :]
