I recently used my camera which has little usage and did not experience being dropped (as far as I know). I tried recording video and everything displayed only the red shade, similar to infrared. Any suggestions as to what could possibly be wrong before I send it in for repair would be appreciated. I believe that I may have lost one of the CCD channels.

yes ur TV might be set to color system PAL /NTSC and ur cam corder in opposite format there is color system changing button on every tv remote just try changing it to PAL or NTSC see if colors work and let me know and pls rate me if i fixed ur problem
There is 2 possibilities, either aperture of camera jammed and doesn't open or CCD Imager got defective in your Sony DCR-DVD105 camcorder. Let me know if you have little experience of camera repair to guide you further.
First I would suspect the record safety switch on the cassette. Look near one of the rear corners for a little red tab. If it's closed (covering the hole), then recording is disabled on that cassette. Is there any indication in the viewfinder that recording is disabled? Usually an icon like indicator showing a cassette with a circle and slash over it.
If that's not the case, you might have a problem with you're record switch. Try using the remote to do it if you have one.
ill try to be a little clearer
Disk is not full, i never wait till theend to unload my videos. I try to derfagment it every time I unload my videos.
This problem happened to me twice, luckly was able to recover.
I plug the camera to the USB port, computer sees it. I start copying files to my comp using the camera software, than everything freezes. I unplug the camera switch to the recording mode and it showes me "disk full error" , "hard disk error". At that time the computer stops seeing the camera.
I spend good half hour messing with it, turning it on and off and playing with buttons. After a while I get it to work and my recordings show up again.
I suspect a conflict with the software or possibly hard disk is over heating.
So far I was able to live with this problem.
Cheers
For a analog wireless camera I have never seen a wireless solution to recieve signals I have however seen a usb dvr that comes with software for recording. you would plug in your camera reciever to the usb stick to recieve the signals on your laptop to record. you can even remotely connect over the internet to the machine that the usb stick is on.
You try it with proper connection using a new or working wire if you have used a vcr to play back. Play the tape with any other camera.Bcoz your monitor may be fault. Play the head cleaning tape in the camera, and try
May be the recording head of your camera is clogged
I have the same problem
I have good experience with audio/video devices and tried to troubleshoot this problem with no luck
I highly suspect it is related to color system setting on the camcorder and the VCR.
Tried to use 2 camcorders and 2 cables with the same problem.
Plug it in using your USB cable (it should have come with the camera) and then put the camera in the movie recording mode
(the red icon showing a film camera)
It should install automatically, if not then restart the computer with it plugged in and then check if its on (you can check by logging into MSN messenger and looking below you avatar, if there is a tiny webcam logo then its working
