This is old I know, but it took me this long to figure this out. I did not find this answer anywhere else online. If you disassemble the console from the treadmill. Just a few screws in the back...then take off the magazine or tablet lip from the front of the console. Carefully peel back the button sticker and you’ll see the circuit grid for the buttons. One of them is stuck. So starting in the upper right of the clear sticker that holds the circuitry. Carefully peel the two layers apart. There is a top circuit and a bottom circuit sticker stuck together. i did this with the treadmill turned on but don’t stand on the belt while doing this. As you peel the top layer back you may hear some beeping as buttons come to life. For mine I peeled about halfway and then put the top layer back down. After a few peels and resticks all the buttons worked again! The only remaining issue is the 5 and 6 don’t work but up and down speed works so you can adjust that way. I would call this a last ditch idea but this is the issue that people are having. Your mileage may vary on what starts to work after trying. Maybe there are a few of these treadmills sitting out there collecting dust like mine was for 10 years. Mine has new life back in it!

Replace the old batteries ( if your system has batteries, clean the spring contacts from oxide, corrosion, etc with contacts cleaners) put a new batteries.
2) tight and clean the ribbon cables from display board
3) tight and clean the uppers and lower connector very well.
4) adjust the REED switch, tight the connector, clean it, and test the reed for open or faulty. see the diagram attached.

SOURCE: I have a Nordic Track C2050 treadmill and the key

1. Power

o 1

Ensure that the treadmill is plugged into a grounded outlet using the correct surge suppressor. Use a UL 1449 suppressor listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor (TVSS). It must be rated for 15 amps and 120 volts AC. Secure the services of an electrician if the outlet is not grounded, or move the Proform treadmill near a grounded outlet. Do not use an extension cord.

o 2

Insert the safety key fully into the display. Treadmills with keys are designed not to turn on without the safety key in place.

o 3

Find the circuit breaker on the front of the frame and make sure it is not tripped. The circuit breaker is a vertical switch on the 540S and a horizontal switch on the 540 Interactive Trainer. Press it to the "Reset" position, which will be labeled.
2. Reed Switch

o 1

Unplug the treadmill and remove the safety key.

o 2

Move the upright base of the treadmill down with the help of another person and lift the uprights so that you can get to the underside of the console. Use a Phillips screwdriver with at least a 5-inch shaft to remove the screws. There are five hood screws on the 540 Interactive trainer and four screws on the 540S.

o 3

Remove the motor hood to get to the small reed switch by pivoting the hood off the frame. Find the reed switch and magnet, which are on the left side of the pulley for both models.

o 4

Turn the pulley with your hand until the reed switch aligns with the magnet. There should be 1/8-inch gap between the two. Fix the distance so that it is 1/8 inch by loosening the reed switch screw and sliding it to the correct distance. Tighten the screw.

o 5

Reverse the directions to put the hood back on and the treadmill upright in the original position.

Cleaning: Remove the covert and spray the Key Pad with special spray( contact cleaner) for to remove dust, etc, very carefully, you mus unplugged the machine.

Do you have the iFit component on your treadmill? We had a similar issue and I unplugged the iFit component (requires opening the console and unplugging the ribbon cable that attaches the iFit component) and the treadmill started working again.

How to activate my ifit

I will try to help you, the feature of software is the same. you can do it, activate your ifit. Nordic Track C2050 ACTIVATE IFIT -The Nordic Track C2050 is a treadmill that was targeted toward the budget-minded fitness enthusiast. It is a model of treadmill that is no longer being manufactured by the company. When it was still being manufactured, it developed a reputation for being an entry-level treadmill that featured a console that was easy to read because of its brightness. 1. Incline Change

o The Nordic Track C2050 allows users to change the incline of the treadmill with a simple touch of a button. This treadmill features both increase and decrease buttons for the incline. The incline of the machine will change by .5 percent every time the buttons are pressed. With each press on the incline buttons, the machine will take a moment to actually reach the incline setting that was just selected.
Capacity of Weight

o Users who are larger than or weigh more than the average person will be pleased with the added capacity of weight that the Nordic Track C2050 allows. Unlike most treadmills in its economy class that only allow a weight limit of 200 to 250 pounds, this model lets users who weigh as much as 300 pounds use the machine safely. Larger people can get the benefits of a cardiovascular workout on this treadmill without worrying about damaging it.
Heart Rate Measurement

o This Nordic Track model allows users to measure their heart rate. All the machine requires is for users to place their feet on its foot rails and grasp the metal contacts with their hands. The Nordic Track C2050 then works to determine your pulse, and the symbol of a heart will eventually show up in the display. After a couple of dashes show up, your heart rate will be displayed. Users who want to be certain of getting an accurate reading should ensure their hands are clean when gripping the metal contacts.

sincerely. God bless you.

Nordic Track exp 2000I. Consol lights, buttons do not work.

If the console lights up but the buttons don't work, then unfortunately it's probably the console and they're not repairable that I know of. You may want to check the wiring harness and the connections at the console and at the controller under the motor hood. Pull them apart and check for bent pins. If they look good, the console is most likely bad.

Hi, I have a NORDIC TRACK C2050. It is stuck at the full incline position. Everything else is working perfectly. I tried the reset switch with no luck. I can hear the motor when I depress the "up" arrow. I...

I am not familiar with that exact model, but it sounds like either the mechanism for lowering/raising is broken or it's off the track. Did you take it to its maximum height when this happened? If so, the teeth might be out of alignment.

Nordic Track Ifit Treadmill has power but walking pad not working

If everything on the display console is working correctly then we know it is either a problem with the wires from the console to the controller or the controller itself. In most cases this means you need a new controller. To verify, take off the motor hood and find the green circuit board called the motor controller. With the power on go into manual mode and push the speed up button to a slow speed. If you see an LED light with "spd ctrl" next to it flickering but the belt still does not move then we know the problem is with the controller sending the signal to the walking belt, in which you should check the wires that go to the motor. If they are connected correctly then we know a new controller is in order. If you do not see a flickering light then it means the speed signal never got there and the problem will be with the wires going from the console to the controller. This is called an upright wire harness.
