When i print an invoice for my business my invoice is printed with a streak down the right side of it. everything else on the invoice is printed with great quality but the streak down the side looks like it is faded when it prints... i cleaned the drum thinking it is dirty or something is in the way but it still does this. when it prints any other document it isnt as noticeable. so im not sure why there is a faded streak when i print my invoices...can anyone suggest anything for me to try?

Remove the toner/drum cartridge. If you can look up into the area above the toner cartridge with a flashlight, look for either dust on the laser glass or some other obstruction. Also check the transfer roller that lies just below the drum. Make sure that's clean with no damage to its sponge surface. DO NOT TOUCH IT WITH BARE HANDS!!! The oil from you skin will damage it. Most important thing to check: Look straight back to the rear of the printer without the cartridge in place. You should see an orange or red roller towards the back. That's the pressure roller for the fuser. Look with the flash light at the grey or light brown roller adjacent to that pressure roller. You said the right side is faded. Look at that right side of that roller. If there is any damage or foreign debris stuck on that side, and you can't clean it with cotton swabs and 91% Isopropol Alcohol, you probably will have to replace that fuser.

SOURCE: printing a mirror image

What is Quicken?   I never opened anything called quicken and I am suddenly getting the same image reversal on one printer, but not on any other. I was just about to heave the printer out of the window - this one is a Brother MFC 5840CN and the machine driving it is a 15inch Core 2 duo 2.3Gigs.
Many thanks for any help anyone can offer.

SOURCE: My drum is at 40%. I have black vertical streaks

I was going crazy! Had a tech come in and look at the machine - needless to say he did NOTHING! A friend came over and was trying different things. It was that the "rack" that the toner cartridges sit in was not fully seated - once he pushed down a little and heard it "click" I had no more black streaks. AMAZING

SOURCE: Duplex Printer prints one side upside down

If it's the same as the Brother 4070 you go into printer proerties (press properties next to printer selector after sending a document to print).  Choose the advanced tab, on this tab near the top are five buttons with icons on, the second one shows two pages with A and B on, press this to access the duplex and binding options.  In there change from "flip on top edge" to "flip on left edge"

SOURCE: MFC-9440 CN Laser Printer is producing vertical color line streak

Colored vertical streaks - looks like a transfer belt problem, and it's not user fixable. You may need a new belt unit - you can find it for around US$ 80-120, but you may want to have a technician inspect the unit first, since it could arguably be the drum instead, and you don't want to fork around US$ 100 and replace the wrong part.
You can try showing a printer sample at a print shop; by looking at the streaks it is possible to diagnose drum, fuser or belt problems.
Here you find a much more detailed page, for another printer model, but the issues are mainly the same for most color printers:

My brother MFC 8500 is receiving alright but everything I send out has a big black streak going down the right side of the page. Confirmation page also has big black streak.

Let me see if I got this right.

The received fax is clean but when you send one out it has a black streak on it.
Cool! So far so good.
Makes sense because for sending, the fax scans the original document and parts of the scanning area could be dirty and so on. Therefore a black streak may appear.
The same black streak would also appear when you make a copy, because the original document must also be scanned.
Logical!

However for receiving faxes, the machine uses the internal memory and the print engine only, and the same applies to printing the transaction report, which comes from inside via the print engine.
The scanner has no rol in either situation.

Now I'm lost!
