Normally you would to the TV settings under audio you would have to disable the tv audio and point it to your receiver I assume you have a surround sound. Make sure you are also using the right audio cable RCA or digital optic cable

SOURCE: subwoofer

Hi,

Hmmm, I think your Yamaha RXV640 does not have a sub woofer amp, it has a line level low pass output that needs to go to a separate/dedicated sub amp before going to a subwoofer.

Good luck and kind regards.

SOURCE: can't get audio from HD TV to run through Yamaha receiver speaker

be more specific!...how is the tv hooked up? hdmi, component, straight to the tv, or into the amp then tv?....what audio out? optical, digital? also what are you trying to view? local programming? cable/sat? dvd? your best bet is to ignore video on the amp and go straight to tv. can't help u more until i have more specifics.

SOURCE: I HAVE BOUGHT AN RXV367 A FEW WEEKS AGO. IT IS SET

It's the nature of the beast. The TV has to process the digital video bitstream more than the receiver has to process the audio so the result can be a gradual lagging of the video behind the sound...

Im having a hard time getting audio useing the hdmi ports on my sony str-dg520

The HDMI on this receiver is for video pass through only. It basically only serves the same purpose as an extension cord for an HDMI cable that's too short.
For audio you need to connect either a digital coax, an optical or composite cables.

Ive got a str-dg520 reciever and have a loud hum coming from all speakers have tryed removing all wires then putting back in but still happens

Try replacing the big Electrolytic Capacitors in the power supply section. When they go the let the 50/60HZ hum into the audio from the mains supply.

Video but no audio

This receiver does not support audio via HDMI. You need to connect BD player via spdif cable. Use optical or coax depending on what does the BD player support - receiver supports both.

My sony dg 520 works fine but the led display is blank?

If it's sending video to a TV, then pull up the system menu of the receiver and look for video settings. There should be a setting for display on/off. If you still have an issue, post a comment and I will help you further.

How can i use Sony 5.1 Receiver STR-DG520 in India (120V to 230V)

Sorry, but according to Sony this set operates only on 120 volts at 60 hertz. As we have no real need for up converters here in the USA, I cannot recommend one for your application. The best course would be for you to visit one of your local electronics stores and provide them with the specific current requirements. I'm certain that an appropriate converter is available in your area.

In your str-dg520 menu you have the option to have the sound routed to your tv or out your stereo system. select which one you want.

No play back from HDTV to threater system

Do you have set-top-box or antenna-cable directly to TV?
You have connected TV with received via HDMI, but that won't work in this direction - TV has HDMI INput only, not output.
You can use HDMI to connect HDMI-out on DVD player for example to HDMI-in on receiver and HDMI-out of receiver to HDMI-in on TV.
But to get sound from TV to the receiver, use spdif optical or coax cable if TV supports that - this way you will get surround sound.
But also your connection via analog white/red RCA plugs should work, but only for stereo sound.

Sony STR-DG520

STRDG520 requires that the audio is from the digital optical or the digital coaxial to have sound. Just add digital audio from blue ray player to the amp and your good to go.
