Normally you would to the TV settings under audio you would have to disable the tv audio and point it to your receiver I assume you have a surround sound. Make sure you are also using the right audio cable RCA or digital optic cable

Hmmm, I think your Yamaha RXV640 does not have a sub woofer amp, it has a line level low pass output that needs to go to a separate/dedicated sub amp before going to a subwoofer.

be more specific!...how is the tv hooked up? hdmi, component, straight to the tv, or into the amp then tv?....what audio out? optical, digital? also what are you trying to view? local programming? cable/sat? dvd? your best bet is to ignore video on the amp and go straight to tv. can't help u more until i have more specifics.

It's the nature of the beast. The TV has to process the digital video bitstream more than the receiver has to process the audio so the result can be a gradual lagging of the video behind the sound...
