When a client calls in and we answer using an Avaya 5410 digital phone, every once in a while the phone will continue to ring even though we've lifted the handset. The phone stops ringing for everyone else in the office. From this point on the Avaya 5410 just keeps ringing with seemingly no way to answer the call. It rings until the client hangs up or we drop the call. Then the client has to ring back. Any help appreciated

Remove the power cable and put it back

    Why would this have an effect? Is it the equivalent of a reset?

Try hitting the speaker button and intercom your boss. When you hit the speaker button to hang up, do you get the same thing? If not. It could be that the gray "clicker" switch that pushes down when you put the handset back isnt going all the way back down...

What you are experiencing is loss of programming. Is this fixed? Could be the batteries need replacing....

By default individual coverage is set to 45 seconds. Ask your phone vendor to reduce it.

Partner ACS systems come with Centralized programming instructions. Most of them starting with Feature 00 Left Intercom twice and Right Intercom. When you dial an extension, the lights will be solid or blink according to how it's programmed and you press each button to turn on or off or delay ringing.

Your system administrator should have a book.

Phone rings once and goes directly to voice mail

Check to see if you have accidently enabled the "send all calls" feature on your handset. When this feature is enabled, your phone will ring only once and then send the calls directly to voicemail.

I got the Avaya 5410 phone at home. Can I connect this peice to my landline? If so, how should I unlock it. When tried connecting the light glows but I cannot hear the ringtone.

This is a digital phone handset to use with a Avaya DIgital PBX. You will not be able to use this as a "regular" phone at your home with a tranditional phone line.

Do you have access to Manager? You can tag the incoming call which does not show the caller ID of a call until the call is answered.

You need to do this in the Manager application. Under the telephony tab of the user, you can change the "No Answer" time.

Message light on an Avaya 5410 phone will not go off even though there are no messages.

Is that phone an extension of a hunt group? It could be getting messages from the hunt group.
Reboot the voicemail computer, that might reset the light.

Need to transfer hunt phone lines to answering service

Make sure that you have allow analog trunk to trunk connect enabled in lines, analog options.
That will take care of your problem unless someone deleted Call forward short code

Call forwarding only rings once

You will have to have the admin lengthen the voicemail answer time, i would add another 15-20 seconds.....but this will make all calls ring your phone longer before going to vociemail
