I watched a movie last night got up this morning wanted to play a game. turned on system. made usual blink on screen before booting but no pic no sound. tried on/off , switching cables, nothing works. system is 1and a half years old first problem.
I went out of town for three days, tried to watch a movie last night and the PS3 would turn on but there was no signal on the TV. I thought it was the HDMI cable and I changed them out and still didnt get a signal. Dont know what to do? The system is only 5 months old

If you are using HDMI sometimes an improper shutdown will cause the HDMI "Handshake" to get confused.Try going to the Crossbar (Menu) on the PS3 2nd coluom from the left and down to Display Settings.
Choose the appropiate output settings and use AUTOMATIC whenever possible.
After that Set your Audio again use AUTO.
Never plug in HDMI cables when Power is on it can and will short out that Input!!
Good Luck!

No motion picture, movie, games, etc do have this problem, because the LCD or TFTP screen has very low refresh rate so while playing games OR watching dvd movies on a laptop will give jerky movements which as you have mentioned that the is no syncronization. The refresh rate on laptop screens are 40 60 Hz whereas in CRT Monitors we get 70 90 Hz, Sorry nothing can be done....sodeep
Hey, sounds like the backlight on the screen is gone, i aint sure where you could get a replacement for that model as its usually monitors i see the problem with.
ie the screens is like black with very faint outline of the picture.
Hope this helps
John
