I have the Sharp R-1440 carousel microwave oven and it won't shut off when I close the door. Do you know how old this oven might be? Model R-1440; Serial 123662

Check and change door interlock switches or check for condensation problem on control panel, (internal).
Hope that helps.

What keeps blowing my fuse on my Sharp R-1480 microwave oven ?

A short circuit diode will do that or shorted turns in the magnetron high voltage transformer, or the magnetron or a sticky/contaminated door switch.
Hope that helps.

I don't know of a reset button but there is a fuse that you have to remove the outer cover to get to that has a habit of blowing

Squeaky carousel

It can be oiled with something akin to Pam (cooking oil spray). You don't want petroleum products in your oven -- it'd take forever to get the fumes out.

I'd try first just spraying some under the turntable as far back toward the center as you can get it -- run oven -- spray some more, etc., etc.

I have a sharp microwave / convection oven i would like to repair because it's from my motorhome and fits the hole for it nicely. it's a model R-8160. the convection part works and the microwave blows the...

When you press the Start pad to begin microwaving:

- does the fuse blow immediately or almost immediately?

That would be a shorted high voltage capacitor.

- does the fuse blow a few or several seconds later?

That would probably be a shorting high voltage transformer, or possibly the magnetron.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:

Dead replaced fuse now makes loud noise

Yes that noise is causing your fuse to blow. Machine gun sound sounds like the High Voltage Capacitor or High voltage diode is bad. (Loud humming sound is usually a bad magnetron or bad power transformer). Most of these parts are inexpensive, except for the magnetron. But most of the repair bill is most likely going to be for labor.

Based on your model, it looks like an over the range microwave. And to fix any of these problems require the removal of the microwave from the wall. So its up to you if you want to deal with that hassle. But you also have to consider that you'll probably have a hard time trying to find a new microwave that will fit.
