Can't find the Power supply? what kind of cord would i need?

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!

The pc does not power the monitor. It has to be independently plugged into an electrical outlet.

wait, is there not a power port? if ther isnt, it may be on the vga port where it connects to the pc, it may of got cut off, your alternative is opening up the mointer and wireing a new power port

When a monitor works for a few seconds or more and goes black it is a problem with the power inverter board over heating because of a bad capacitor or capacitors that are not the right size. There is no problem with the VGA controller since it shows video for a few seconds. I have fixed a lot of Mag LCD monitors with changing just two small capacitors for $0.50 a piece and some of my time to solder them in. Less time as i have gotten better. You can buy the capacitors on Mouser Electronics Online. Just make sure they are the right size and dimensions. I have one of these monitors on my table now and have not determined the exact capacitor that is the issue. I have change five out and it is still doing the same. Four more to go. None of the capacitors looked bad, thus the prcess takes longer. Good Luck
