Honda Goldwing rear side compartment stuck closed.

I have a 2005 Honda Goldwing GL 1800. The right rear side compartment bag has been not opening when using the release mechanism, it seems to be hung up, I feel tension on the cable when releasing the lockining device, however the compartment wont open, how do I get it opened and what do I need to do to correct the problem.

The 2001 model had a problem with the left compartment. In your main trunk you will find on the left and right side a black button insert, pop it out and with your finger you can push the mechanism down, this will open the compartment. I had to tear into the locking mechanism and shortened a new rod to cure my problem, hope you don't have to go to this extent to cure your problem

Sounds like the mute is stuck on. You need to figure out how to un-mute it.
