Hoveround chair only turns left - Hoveround MPV5 Electric Wheelchair - Used Power Chairs

Double check to be sure drive levers are fully engaged. Go down and up a few times. If problem persists have Hoveround come and check it out. One of the drive motors may have shorted out when you continued driving with gravel in the wheel.

There should be a lever under the seat, left side near the rear. Push the lever toward the rear of the chair to unlock the position. You may require some lubricant, WD-40, if it is stuck.

Angel the charger light should only turn green when the chair is fully charged. If you know the chair isn't fully charged then there is a problem with the charging system. if the circuit board in the joystick got wet then that is a serious problem. If you have a voltmeter you can check the battery voltage thru the charging port located under the front of your joystick Set the meter to 200 volts dc and plug the leads into the 2 outter holes of the charger port. Fully charged you should read 27-30 volts if you aren't getting any reading then the batteries are completly dead or there is a problem with the charging circuit (the reason you are getting a green light on the charger) The joystick will have to be replaced sorry If Medicare paid for your chair then they will pay 80% of the repair costs to get your chair working again If they did contact Roadrunner Mobility @ 1-800-467-2668 to get it fixed thru Medicare Hope this helps

If the lights are chasing left to right then you are in inhibit mode meaning a charger is attached or there is a problem in the joystick with the inhibit functio. Right to left chasing I think means you are in freewheel. Turn the Power off and reset the levers in front on the chair then turn the power back on and hope the lights are steady and the chair will work. If this doesn't do it maybe you are in lockout mode. If you have the manual for this chair it should explain how to get out of "lockout". If not try turning the power on and within 10 seconds push the joystick straight forward and hold until you hear a beep then immediately move the joystick to the rear and hold until you hear another beep then release joystick to the center. You will need tie downs to the power chair. It is a metal piece the fits over the chair post and sits under the seat and had two metal loops to hook on to. The Hoveround field technician will install it for you.You need to order the tie downs from Hoveround, your insurance will most likely NOT cover the cost.

You may want to check the bearings in the casters, that can cause a scrubbing noise and cause the chair to not turn well.

If there is a chirping noise, that may indicate a motor failure. There is a left and right motor, so if one is not working well, it can cause the power chair to not drive straight.
