Finding shoes for ageing feet

Number of tips for finding shoes for ageing feet: 1. Ensure the toes don't touch the end of the shoe, allow a 1cm gap from the longest toe. 2.Shoes should not need "breaking in" they should fit comfortably from the start. 3. Ensure the toes don't touch the end of the shoe, allow a 1cm gap from the longest toe. 4.Ensure the toes don't touch the end of the shoe, allow a 1cm gap from the longest toe. 5.Ensure shoes are wide and deep enough to prevent heel slip. 6.Lace up, buckles or Velcro should hold the heel in place Velcro straps can be easier for arthritic hands.7. Slip on shoes can encourage the toes to 'claw' at the shoe to keep it on leading to discomfort, corns and calluses.

Brake shudder

If you did nor replace the attaching hardware when replacing the rear shoes and drums then there is a good chance that the rear brakes are not performing the self-adjustment necessary for them to work properly. This results in the rear brakes not braking effectively and placing extra stress of the front brakes. The increased stress on the front brakes causes excessive heat on the rotors and they will warp and this causes the shuddering you feel. Inspect the rear brakes to ensure that they are working as designed.

Are there any general fitting tips I should know of?

Feet tend to expand over the course of a day so it's better to try on shoes in the late afternoon and evening. A tight fitting shoe in the morning can become uncomfortable as the day wears on. Especially if your job or daily activity involves alot of walking or standing. You should also make sure your big toe has around half an inch or a thumb width of space. Otherwise your toes will rub against the material and this will create discomfort and blisters. Just make sure you can extend your toes and wiggle them when trying your shoes on.Also Make sure your wearing your usual pair of socks and not thick hiking socks.

After replacing front pads and rear shoes on my 2006 Nissan Sentra I still hear what sounds like worn shoes, or pads dragging when I come to a stop. Neither the pads or shoes were worn to that point when...

to my knowledge , some brake pads have metal compounds , and some are aspestos , i once used metal type on my falcon years ago and found when they got hot it was like an MTT bus braking . these type were used on taxi's for longer endurance but made noise when hot , despite being fitted correctly .

sometimes if you have touched face of pads with your hands this will also cause this noise , if so remove and lightly rub with sand paper to remove any foriegn matter and replace carefully , also brake fluid from bleeding afterwards could cause this also , did you notice if there were any little plates behind brake pads , these little flat dust plates or anti vibration plates that are behind pads some times work better with a little silicon between them and the pads , this helps a little.

also on some models i have found the rear caliper has to be screwed in and pressed also , some hand brake systems require this to un adjust the hand brake system when replacing pads .
inside the piston of the rear caliper will have a cross shape if so ! be care full if so , as one is right hand thread and one is left , if they a screwed the wrong way the piston is very hard to re-align the thread again without the chance of cross threading ..

hope this helps !
