How to closed zero dial in this phone set

phone circuits included electromechanical relays which imposed limitation on the speed of dialing a digit, and therefore dialing a complete 10-digit telephone number could take up to ten seconds, during which hardware resources had to be dedicated to a circuit. The Bell System organized the numbering plan to minimize the cost of providing automatic dialing to large population centers. The second digit of all area codes was 0 or 1, while the second digit of the exchange triplet was never 0 or 1, thus facilitating the recognition of whether a user was dialing a full 10-digit number or merely dialing within the local area code. In this coding scheme it was not yet necessary to dial a leading 1 for access to long distance circuits to other area codes. In some regions, local numbers were 7 digits, or occasionally less, but a toll call within the area code required a preceding 1. Area code 617 in eastern Massachusetts used this system in the early 1970s, while the Chicago area (312) did not. In the Chicago area, one could call the Boston area by dialing only 10 digits, while in Boston, to call Chicago, one would be required to use 11 digits, including the prefix 1.

Dialing '9' might get you an "outside" line (if you work inside a company that has its own telephone-network).
Dialing '1' starts a long-distance call (Canada/USA/Mexico).
Dialing '917' is the "area-code" part of a telephone-number.
Dialing '870' is the "exchange-code" within that area-code.
Dialing '1698' is the local number within that exchange-code.

Does anyone know how to connect to Cell phones in Mexico

Try this out, hopefully it helps!

The official way to enter the number is +001 52 1 (seven digit number without the area code; ie - no 322 for Puerto Vallarta)

If you dial the number like that and then save the number, Skype automatically re-formats it to look like this +52 1 (3 digit area code)(7 digit number), so I assume you can enter like that as well.

When a received call comes in the number shows 1-402 then the number.on call back the phone dials all 11 numbers, then i get a recording from windstream that says i dont need to dial the 1 and area code....

The caller ID in your area is set up to show the 1 plus the area code although not every area has yet to require you to dial the 1 before the number. In the near future it's possible you will have to dial the 1 even if you're calling a local number. I know of no way to change the phone settings in order to remove the 1 in the caller id. Unfortunately it looks like your only option will be to dial the number directly without the 1. Good luck!

How to insert a "1" for out-of-state call back

unfortunately most home phones don't have a feature that will automatically enter a 1 when you try to automatically dial a call received. the only way to get around this is to purchase a different phone. i'm sorry to here about your problem.

What is a dial out code?

A dial-out code is a number that is automatically added when you dial a number. It can be either your area code or (usually) your country code.
Let's say the number stored in your phone is (123) 456-7899. So if your dial-out code is set to "+1", then the number dialed is +1-123-456-7899. This ensures that, wherever you are on this planet, you will always reach that number in the US.

On home phones you can sometimes set a dial-out code (like "123"), and if you dial 456-7899, then it automatically adds your area code to the number.

What sometimes happens is, let's say you bought your phone in the US, but you live in another country, your phone still automatically adds a "+1" to all your numbers stored in your phone unless specified otherwise. That's why you have to set the dial-out code to your specific region.

My phone when I press for automatic dialing it adds a 1 in front of the number and the call wont get completed but if i dialed the number manually it wont add the 1 and the call gets completed. Balckberry...

When you do your automatic dialing, does the number include the area code? ie. mine is 937 (937-xxx-xxxx)
If you don't have the area code put in with the rest of the number, that may be your problem. 1 is the country code for USA, so normally when you see a number that says +11234567890, its country code, area code, phone number.
+1(country)123(area code)4567890(phone number)
So anyway, the only thing I can think of is to put the area code in the phone numbers in your address book if they are not already there. Other than that, I dont know.

If you are dialing from outside of Mexico, please dial your international operator and the Mexico country code (52). Then add the area code for Mazatlan (669)
