Bought a new JVC GR D 370U dv cam and tried different firewire cables to connect the camera to laptop which already has a firewire port. But after connecting to my laptop (hosting win xp sp2) nothing happens. Let me know if I am missing something. I also tryed using Nero Viso 4 which says no supporting capture device was detected
I have JVC GR-D270 cam how I can copy my video from tap to my Laptop
I had the same problem..drivers not detected . I updated the drivers for my on - board firewire and it worked immediately.
I think i have found it!!!! in side the camera screen that pulls out, switch the little blue button over to MEMORY mode and put the camera in playback mode. my computer recognized it immediately!
Install the jvc SOFTWARE cd that comes with the camcorder. there is also a boklet called Software Installation And USB connection guide. this should help because i had the same problem
My camera is a JVC GRD370.
JVC seems to only work with firewire (iee1394) that uses the Texas Instrument chips.
I ended up having to buy a PCI card for my PC that specificaly had the Texas Instruments IEE1394 chip.
Worked fine after that. No special drivers, Windows XP automaticly installed the Firewire drivers for the card, and auto-detected the camera.
1. make sure that the camera is powered up and in proper mode (i konw it's obvious, but that's always a first step)
2. ensure that your firewire port is actually enabled on your laptop. Go to the control panel and look at the system devices and ensure that it is working.
3. Download the latest drivers from your laptop mfr support site and install.
4. Plug the cable into the LAPTOP FIRST, then into the camera, THEN TURN THE CAMERA ON.
see if that helps.

I am trying to upload footages to my pc. PC is not recognizing the videocam. I have the camera charged up, plugged usb, then firewire, then turned cam on. Nothing happened. I am not sure what I am missing.
