Video streaming is possible with DV camcorders thanks to the Firewire port (IEEE1394), which works very much like a digital video in/out connection. Basically, the camera just sends video, and if there's a computer attached, it receives the video and decides what to do with it on a computer.

USB doesn't work that way, normally. Most tapeless camcorders automatically set up the webcam as a storage device, which is a very distinct thing from a video streaming device.  A storage device is just a disc of some kind... it will show up under some letter (eg, K:) in Windows, when you attach the camcorder.

Some USB camcorders allow for a "webcam" or "streaming" mode... I didn't find any specifics on your JVC, but I know some of the Panasonics support this. There are two ways. One is that, if you have the camera in record/standby mode, it may just go automatically into webcam mode when you attach USB.

The other way is that the camera will have something in the menus, like "Live mode" or "Webcam mode" that instructs it to configure USB for video streaming rather than storage-class attachement.

And of course, some of the tapeless camcorders have a Firewire port, just like a DV camcorder, which is there specifically to allow for streaming video, etc. You could use your camcorder as a web camera over Firewire, given the proper software... though you might find that's just as expensive as buying
a webcam.

And given the price of actual webcams, I would consider buying one
rather than adding wear and tear to my camcorders, just based on
price. This is the same  reason I have a DV tape rewind device.. $20 device, $2000
camcorder... easy math.

see if your camera has a USB. if it has then install the driver to your computer that camed with your camcorder. the drivers function is to allow the camcorder to use on your computer. insert the USB from your camcorder to your PC and now you can use it as a webcam. hope that helps!

SOURCE: JVC Everio GZ-360BU Camera Temperature is Too Low - Keep Power On??

I'm an English guy with the same problem... What you do is keep the power on for a long time, or you charge it up with the charger. Trust me. However, it is very rare for this to occur. There should be a message saying: "Temperature is too low, keep power on." There should be another message reading: "Turn off power and turn on again to check if camera is fully-functional. Thanks for giving me something to do while X-Plane downloads on my Mac OS X.

I have a JVC HDD Camcorder GZ-MG135AA. I've had it for a while but it has a HDD error and it also says "Camera temperature is too low, keep camera power on?..what can I do to fix this?

The best solution is to send the product back to the manufacturer for repair or replacement. If you have a receipt for the product and its within the warranty period (1 year) they will do this free of charge. I can help you with the process.

JVC EVERIO gz-mg330 does not appear as drive

Another solution is to make sure you are using the usb cable that came with the camera. For some reason, if I use any other, the computer won't recognize the camera. It's the one with the magnet. In fact, mine has two magnets on it.

Camera Temperature

mine is an everio gz-mg37u and i get that same bulls*** on the screen at every power up. First I tried waiting a while then switching all the switches between camera and video mode, record and watch mode, etc. and one time it worked and the message went away. Haven't been able to do that since.

Now what I do is turn it on, wrap it in a blanket, leave it about 10 minutes, then turn the power off and on again. Works fine for me, and if I turn it off and then turn it back on within a few minutes before it cools down, it works fine. There has to be a messed up sensor in this thing that I can desolder somewhere......

you can always backup those movies you want to your computer using a software like nero from majorgeeks.com and use this. for you to have a fresh start, reformat the cam afterwards and look for a latest fiemware update.

hope this helps.
