............ sounds like he belt is slipping / damaged or broken. If you turn the drum by hand, does it spin? If so, is it easier than normal? If so, almost certainly needs a new belt. Get it checked out - a lot of house fires are caused by clothes dryers!

My dryer is screeching, how do I know if it's the dryer drum belt, bearings, or the driver belt?

If the belt is slipping it can sometimes screech, or it might be the idler pulley needs lubrication. Take is all apart, clean and lubricate all the moving parts, drum slides and rollers.

I have a Kenmore Electric Series 80 Dryer that the drum inside won't turn but it heats up and smells hot like something is burning. I can however turn it manually.

Remove the top and the front panel to remove the drum after you purchase a belt and teh idler pulley that Sears selles for your dryer. The pulley's bearing has froze up causing the belt to burn up and falling off

The motore will run, but it is not spinning. The motor smells hot when it is running and not spinning.

Dryers have a drive belt that turns the clothes drum. If the belt breaks, the drum stops rotating. Then you need to replace the belt.
Here is a link to the belt.

Dryer makes noise that sounds like tumbling glass and smells hot

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt, or the belt may have slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley.
If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

Heating works but drum doesnt turn.

Try turning drum, or remove top from dryer to confirm if belt has gone. When turning drum there should be some resistance as the belt fits around the drum

Loud noices when running, some burned rubber smell

The only rubber part is the belt that drives the drum around. The belt rides on a tensioner which has a pulley on it with a bearing built into it. When the bearing goes bad the pulley will not turn freely causing the belt to get hot and smell. Its time for a new pully and bearing assembly for your dryer

My dryer will run for about 30 seconds then kick the breaker off and smells like something is burning. could this be a belt going bad and putting excessive drag on the motor?

That or a heater coil high limit switch has blown. The high limit switch is a safety device that prevents the dryer from getting too hot and catching fire. I would check the belt and motor first bt removing the back and checking the belt and motor by hand turning the dryer drum and observing the belt and motor. If the motor is bad or going bad you should see signs of slight charring at the air vent holes onm the motor and you will for sure smell it. Good luck

Dryer got very hot and smelled burning..

This is usually a result of a stalling idler pulley or drum, causing a burned spot on the drum drive belt.

The situation will only worsen. The belt is best replaced before it breaks.

Items to pay attention to, when the drum drive belt is replaced, are:
(1) Clean and lube the idler pulley and drum roller shafts.
(2) Confirm that the drum glides will yield additional service life.
(3) Check motor condition and de-lint the blower housing and blower intake pathways.

The dryer gets hot but the drum does not turn

sir please check the motor is running and this will be fixed inside the dryer and a belt will be fixed which makes the drum to rotate when the motor starts.so you should check both the belt and the motor.

Condensing tumble dryer not running

has the belt shredded and wrapped itself around the shaft? try to manually rotate the drum to see if the belt is free and the motor shaft moves. it sounds like the motor is stuck and the smell is the uncirculated heat at the back. let me know your results.
taking the lid off will gain access.
