I lost the the software for my canon scanner "Canoscan LIDE 70". where could I get the software to read "OCR". Thanks

Yes, but you have to use a special program called an "OCR" (Optical Character Recognizer) which will "read" the document from the scan. A scanner only produces a picture of a document, and it requries special software to "read" that image and make it editable.
The LIDE 70 comes with OMNIPAGE SE (special edition) which will work for simple documents. For more complex documents, you may need to buy the full edition of OMNIPAGE or another OCR package like FineReader. It is also built in fto software like OneNote and Evernote.

The driver and the CanoScan Toolbox can be downloaded. Unfortunately, the bundled software is not available for download. Try contacting the Canon Support Center to see if they can send you another.

Drivers for your Canon LiDE 70 Flatbed canner is available here. You need to 1. Select Category - Scanner, 2. Product Type - CanoScan Series, 3.Select Model - LiDE 70 and click on Go button. On the new page click on Select OS Scroll button, choose your Operating System (Vista or XP), page will refresh with filename lide70vst1210ea14us.exe click on it, new page with I Agree - Begin Download button, click on it.
