Machine started making loud noise when spinning. It sounds like it is going to 'take off', you can hear it throughout the house. I had a repairman out & he said the seal was shot and in order to replace that I needed a new tub (NC for the tub). Is it worth fixing? Is this a problem with these machines? we did notice a small amount of water under the machine a few weeks ago but had drain problems so we waited til that was fixed-haven't noticed water since. It is only 6 years old 7 I paid a good amount for it! My husband is handy-is this something we can fix ourselves for alot less? They quotes me $250+/- for seal and 1-1/2-2 hrs. labor.
Chances are it is not the tub. It is probably the transmission. It has been my experience that the transmission bearing starts to make noise. Look under the unit to see if you can spot any transmission oil. If there is oil, it's time to start shopping for a new unit.
Yes those Washers are very unreliable and have multitudes of problems, you would be much better off putting your money towards a good Roper,Whirlpool,Inglias,Estate, even a new Maytag washer since Whirlpool has bought maytag and now they are the same machine, Completely different and a much more reliable design

The washersounds like it is winding up as it begins to spin. Very loud while spinning. Not a grinding noise. I suspect the tub bearing. How do I remove the tub to replace the seal and bearing?
same loud noise when spinning model mav6000aww,serial #12505258yk.
