I cant format my 2GB Kingston flash disk, when I plug it to the computer it is reading removable disk and when i try to format it it will start formating but failing to be formatted successfully.

Hi there,

that problem is usually caused by a failure of the hardware to properly recognize the USB drive, clean the contacts with WD-40 or with a contact cleaner. Try a different USB port.

Hope this helps

My kingston 8gb cards only show 1.87 gb and will

The 'FAT' file-system uses 16-bit arithmetic, and thus is limited to about 2GB in size.
The 'FAT32' file-system uses 32-bit arithmetic, and thus can easily format an 8GB device.

So, be sure to choose 'FAT32'.

Also:
Click Start
Right-mouse click My Computer
Choose Manage
Click Storage
Click Disk Management (local)
Does the card show a 1.87GB "partition", plus 6.13GB of "unused" space?
If so, then delete that "small" partition, and then create a new partition that "spans" the entire 8GB.
Then, FORMAT that partition.

I can't write files to my kingston 2gb usb flash drive.

Hello.

If you are getting a message that the disk is full, erase some of your existing files.

If there are no files on your flash drive, I'd suggest formatting your drive. If there are files, note that any existing files will be erased.

If your flash drive is drive "G" for example, enter "format g:" (no quotes).

Hope this helps.

Move data from one computer to another with kingston 8gb data tra

When you plug in the Flash Drive to your old computer, it will show up in My Computer probably as Removable disk or "Kingston Data Travler". You want to open that link up and drag whatever files you need into that folder. After doing so you put the flash drive in your new computer and repeat the process except you drag the files out of the folder and onto your desktop or a folder of your liking.
