Iv found an old honda petrol generator in my dads shed. It said the model is gx160 5.5 markon motor. The problem is I started the thing ok but when I stopped it and checked the dipstick for oil it started...

There are a couple of possibilities
-someone put too much oil in it.
-the carb float stuck and gas ran into the oil.
If it sat for awhile, a gunked up carb is almost guaranteed.
Pretty much no other way for too much oil.
Clean the carb, make sure the float is not sticking, Put the correct amount of oil in it, and run it.

CHECK THE GAS YOU PUT IN. IT MAY BE A GAS/OIL MIX AND PERHAPS SHOULD HAVE BEEN GAS ONLY. IF SO, DRAIN AND PUT IN FRESH GAS AND LABEL GAS CAN.

Hi, i have a BSA ECCO16 petrol lawnmower, and I have been looking for a replacement blade for a few months, the blade I have at the moment is a power devil 16'' blade with tails, it is cutting

talk with a mower shop
from your description you have a solid bar attached to the hub on the crankshaft with a cutter blade at either end
the cutter blades should have the rear section turned up to create an air flow to throw the gras out the back
you can replac the single blade with a disc that has 4 blades each turned up at the back and that makes cutting easier and a higher rate of discharge out the abck

Champion 35 lawnmower hunts

Clean the air filter (foam type) in warm soap water then apply some oil soaked in, it will smoke afterwards for a short time. Or possible minor adjustment too the mixture screw on the side of the carburetor spring loaded. Allan

Bike been laid up for 5yrs....have stripped and cleaned carbs, cleaned fuel tank out. Plugs sparking ok but bike not even attempting to fire.

Have you any compression? If not, pour a few ounces of motoroil in the spark plug hole to place some oil on top of the piston and let it soak for a day or so. Fit an old spark plug and check compression. It should be good now. Turn the engine over a few times to blow the excess oil out and fit a new plug. After checking the petrol and oils is mixing OK and the carb is "wet", try starting again.

Make sure the gear box has fresh oil and any hydraulics have fresh fluid.
Hope you get it going.

Smoke from engine of lawnmower

usually large clouds of smoke are from having too much oil in the crankcase, or tipping the mower so that oil runs into the cylinder. Check the level of oil, and make sure it's not overfilled.

Lawnmower is spewing white smoke

white smoke means that there is water in the fuel air mixture during combustion. a bluish white smoke means oil is being burned during combustion. take another look and make sure which one it is. since all mowers ive seen are air cooled the only way water can be getting in the fuel air mixture is through the gas cap. check your gas tank and gas can for water. may be best to empty both and start over with fresh fuel

Hi, first you'll have to change the air filter and the spark plug. now, go buy some hi octane gas. drain the old gas and put the fresh gas in. if this don't solve your problem please write again.
