There used to be a liquid called Tolulene which dissolved the glue but nowadays its been banned because of many health reasons. I got told by a floor covering Guy that sanding is the only way to do it now. Hire a belt sander for a day and get it all off.

GE Profile cooktop JP360. Trying to remove cooktop to install new granite countertops. Also have GE built in oven JTP 15 below. Called G.E. Customer Service today and was told to just pry the top off...

Hi marilynmcdon,

You can do it yourself. These cook tops are not glued to the granite at all (Or is not supposed to be). Simply lift is up slowly, start from the side, and lift it slowly. If done carefully you won't damage anything.

Hope this helps

I have model # KGCT365X KitchenAid gas cooktop and one of the knobs that turns the burner on has split in the spindel area and won't grip enough to turn the burner on. Can one be ordered?

All four of mine did this.I glued it with a good quality super glue (don't get any inside or it won't fit back on)
Then I wrapped it many, many times with fishing string.Glue the end of the string after you cut it.Make sure that it holds. Then using alot of the super glue,spread/smear it all over the string. Its almost like fiberglass.Let it dry up real good over night. The first one I did almost 6 years ago and still holding. It's a lot guicker and easier then it sounds.

Flames too high Jenn-air CCG2423

Definitely cut your loses and get a cooktop with a warranty. That unit sat on the back shelf for a reason.......it didn't work properly.

Also, but a cook top that is compatible with the safety knobs they sell as child guards at places like lowes and home depot.

here is a link to show you how the child proof knobs work

What's best tu glue my cooktop on my granite countertop?

I don't think I'd glue it down permenantly. I just had to replace the ceramic glass on mine (a JED 8430 ABD) after it cracked. Thankfully, it wasn't glued down so I could replace it pretty easily (ordered part directly from Jenn Air). But some sort of seal to keep food out from under the cooktop would be nice. I just wouldn't go permenant. The fact that you have to tape the down draft to the external vent should keep the cooktop in one place (plus its own weight).

Oven Clicking Noise

Sounds like you've got the igniter button stuck IN. If so it will probably carry on clicking until the battery runs down.
The battery might be behind the bottom drawer. If you take the battery out and the clicking stops then the striker button is probably glued up with something. Just clean it.
