I am trying to connect my PSP to the internet. I am having a USB broadband connection from my ISP. I have shared my USB broadband connection with my LAN using windows Internet Connection Sharing Option (ICS).
Linksys WIFI router WRH54G)
The psp is able to pass all the stages:
it passes the following tests 1) Connecting to access point: Pass 2) obtaining IP address: Pass 3) Testing internet connection: Pass
As soon as the internet connection pass happens, it connects momentarily but soon disconnects again. Then it does not connect again until i reboot the modem.
What could be the problem.
Connectivity:
USB modem--(using internet connection sharing)---LAN---(through ethernet cable)----Linksys WIFI router WRH54G)----through wireless interface----PSP

SETTING UP A INTERNET BROADBAND CONNECTION First you need to decide what type of broadband and Internet service you require and these are - 1. DSL that uses your existing telephone line. 2. Cable that uses a cable service and can include a cable TV service. 3. A wireless 3G network uses the mobile/cell phone network and can be separate or combine with your cell phone account. This type of Internet connection uses an USB wireless device shaped like an USB memory stick. Note - Combined services generally offer discount pricing and may include a modem/wireless router.
If you use a wireless router with the DSL or Cable Internet service then your laptop with a wireless card can then connect to the Internet. You can also connect to a free WiFi hot spots like McDonalds, Star Bucks, the Airport etc. using the wireless card in your laptop. If you use the wireless 3G wireless broadband service, then you can access the Internet anywhere where your ISP has 3G wireless coverage. You need to check the service coverage area where you need Internet service. Once you decide what type of broadband your require, then you need to check with the various Internet Service providers to see if they can offer and the cost of the various plans. Note the download limits and the associated additional costs if you exceed the monthly download limits. Once you sign up with a Internet Service provider, their documentation will include setting up instructions and/or installation CD.
The SB4100 is a digital modem that uses cable TV network to provide broadband Internet access, it can't work with an analog telephone line, for this type of Internet access (also called switched Internet connection), you need an analog internal or external 56K modem, and also you'll need a user name and password (an account) from the Internet provider service (ISP) ; for a temporary Internet connection maybe a prepaid cellular modem (GPRS, EDGE, 3G or 4G) USB type could help you better.
You need to have a WiFi network or be on a WiFi hotspot. If you are connecting to a secured network, make sure you get the passkey from the WiFi admin. If you want to setup a WiFi network at your place. You need to buy a Wireless router. Usually costs around $50-$60. This will share your internet connection wirelessly.
I contacted Bigpond after my whole internet collapsed due to my amature abilities in fixing the internet. >_<"
yet they fixed my internet connection by disconnecting my current (DLINK DIR-300) router from the network. hmmmm... the technician also confirmed that my current broadband modem (2WIRE 2071-A) isnt capable of supplying a shared connection to more than one computer!! she also directed me towards a modem with an inbuilt wifi router that "supposedly" is the best option right now. (2701HGV-W) I'm a bit shaky and the stupid NETGEAR adaptor problem still exists - im willing to buy the new modem if its guaranteed to abolish this problem and give me a better internet wise outlook - please any suggestions will be appreiciated =)
check for interference in the room equipments like microwave, powerful radio transmitters or walkies. try shutting off all the electronic and magnetic devices in the routers proximity and try connecting again. Depending what router you have and whats your isp you will need different steps for different combinations. So your best bet is to conference your isp and router manufacturer so they cant blame each other.
Unfortunately the PS3 will not be recieving internet through this device, the USB connectors are set up to only work with PC or MAC specifically for that reason that gamers cannot use their Xbox or Playstation, and that is because Verizon offers a Wireless router cell phone data device which costs almost a thousand dollars, definately not worth it.
you could try getting a wifi adapter and creating an access point, you can connect that way if your ps3 has wifi I have a laptop with windows XP Pro and have been trying that my desktop PC with Vista Home can see it. MY Components: -Desktop PC with Vista Home (Main PC, connected to Internet with Ethernet to a Linksys Wireless Router B and G). -Get internet thru cable TV (broadband),from this cable modem plugs to router and from router to PC Vista(desktop) -Linksys Wireless G/B Router -G-Card for my Laptop Windows XP Pro and -Playstation 3 capable of sharing info and use printer
At the moment all of them have internet w different IP's (000.000.0.001, 000.000.0.002,etc.). What I want to achieve is that I can use the Printer that is connected via USB to my PC Vista (desktop) and share files. Right now the only thing been able to do is that my PC Vista see my Laptop but Can't find my PC on my laptop. Anybody, Help? -When I turn On my media sharing in my PS3, my internet on Laptop loses it while PS3 search and find, then, because laptop lost wireless, the PS3 looses the laptop and I get wireless back. I knowis a stupid setting but tired of workin back n forth. Thanks
How are you connecting Your Xbox console upto your Internet ? if your Connecting Via WiFi, Make sure you have the Xbox compatible WiFi adaptor, if you are connecting Via a Local Area network, Ensure that your Console is hooked up Directly to Your Router, and if your connecting Via a Shared internet connection thru a PC, Ensure it is Hooked up correctly and also that your computer is set up to allow sharing the internet connection, That sometimes makes Xbox live faulty.
Also another problem for IP addresses not working is Due to your Internet service provider, Some broadband companies constantly renew IP addresses changing them every so often which the Xbox doesnt like. I would suggest contacting your Service provider and seeing if they have any Technical Support !
Unplug the plug (from phoneline) on back of USB modem, plug into Zoom router. Plug one end of an ethernet cable into router and one end into your PC. Type http://10.0.0.2 into a web browser (eg. Firefox or Internet explorer) username/password is admin/zoomadsl go to basic setup and input your ISP username and password (the one given to you by your internet provider) under PPP. Click configure my connection. Save changes and then write to flash (both buttons on bottom of page)
now then or you hav to do is plug it to your pc go to internet connection t mobile properties then advanced allow to share to other connections then plug your cable to your pc from your ps3 you might have to turn your windows firewall off or just change the settings if you dont want 2 turn it off
