1995 Chevy S10 Blazer will not go into park.

Today My Blazer decided to not want to go into park anymore. If I pull the shift lever and almost throw it up into the park position, it will sometimes engage into park. If it doesn't go into park, the transmission is shifting between Park and Reverse. Reverse, Neutral, Over-drive, drive, 2nd, and 1st gear all work with now problems. I just need to put the car into neutral to start it and use the E-break.

Also, is there any physical connection between the shifting lever and the transmission, or is it all electrical?

Thanks In Advance!

My 2002 Isuzu Rodeo with the 3.2L V6 downshifted from 4th to 2nd on the highway at about 65 miles an hour to pass and not it is stuck in what I think is "limp mode". The transmission will shift from Park to Reverse and then into Neutral fine and engage the gears. When I shift into Drive the vehicle will not shift higher than 2nd. Also, the dash indicator will only show Park and 2nd. Nothing in between. I have changed the transmission fluid and filter. There was not any large particles in the fluid although it was pretty dark, and had a burnt odor to it. I have checked all of the connections to the sensors to make sure they are plugged in correctly. I also have checked the battery and alternator. The battery sustains about 12.7 volts and the alternator puts out a steady 14.2 volts. Please someone who has any ideas please help. This is my only vehicle so I have to keep driving it to work.

Was driving at fast lane speed started hearing loud screeching noise pulled off expressway and put van in park noise stopped, no noise in reverse 3rd, 2nd, or 1st. put it back in drive screeching resumed and I noticed a large power draw. put van in 3rd and continued shifted properly up to 3rd gear and ran fine.

at higher rpms and when cold 3rd gear will engage, manuelly can shift through all gears and works great. Only when warm does it"neutralize?" When cold and at higher rpms shifts great. There are not really any other problems, maybe a bump going from park to first,

1995 Chevy S10 Blazer

IT IS NOT GOING INTO NEUTRAL. IT HAS LOST THE DIRECT DRIVE CLUTCH PACK INTERNALLY. SOUNDS LIKE IT IS HIGH MILEAGE. IF SO AND YOU CHANGE THE FLUID IT CLEANS UP ALL THE VARNISH IN THE TRANNY AND THE END RESULT IS TRANNY MALFUNCTIONS DEPENDING ON WHAT KIND OF CARE IT HAS HAD IN THE PAST.
