go to www.ereplacmentparts.com for a diagram. just pay attention when taking apart. its not hard. even lable parts if you need to. an air compressor will be useful in cleaning. and brake cleaner does good on oily parts.drys quick and leaves no residue.

Clean the carburetor. might do it for you.

fit new pump ad float diaphragms in the carby
the fuel mix has become irrelevant as Stihl have an oil that is a 50:1 oil and covers all ratios and mixtures
do not use any e-mix fuels as that destroys carby components

My Homwlitw Attack ii won't start. Spark plug is dry even after priming more than 10 times. Where so I start? Thanks, Fred

Fouled spark plug
ie, carbon and or fuel fouled
install new plug, and withouth choking or priming, pull 4-6 times while holding the throttle at wide open.

If not fouled, go to senerio #2

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
5) replace gaskets/diaphragms
b) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb

Basics to check:
1) Spark plug - brown or dark brown - OK
- aluminum or silver - piston/cylinder scored
a) is it carbon or fuel fouled
b) is there spark

2) Compression - 125 to 150 psi

3) Muffler remove for inspection
a) exhaust screen clean or plugged
b) inspect cylinder wall/piston as the flywheel is slowly rotated

Proper gap is .030 inch.

Confirm that you have spark. If yes, then the issue has to be with carburetion. Might have to be cleaned out, repaired or replaced.
