Autopunch Installation - Vista

If you have upgraded to Vista, there have been considerable troubles with all makes of machine in the last few years.
You will probably need to find an upgrade to the software (generally free), so contact Singer in your region.

Maybe you should try to contact singer south africa and ask them whats wrong, my laptop did the excact same thing switch over to home pc and no problem ever again.

Go to www.futura-support.com , click on Service Updates in the left hand column, and then click on: Click here to read detailed installation instructions. Print it out and follow the procedures. You also need to download the patch at the top of the screen.

First check whether your Vista is 32bit, 64bit Vista is not supported yet. If Vista is 32bit and still software cannot communicate with the machine then probably you installed an update or patch for another Futura version. Write here machine model, software version (Help->About Futura) and additional options (Autopunch,Photostich etc) if you purchased any.

There was a problem with the inital discs distributed with the machine. Try downloading the autopunch from the singer website (its hidden at the bottom of FAQ) and loading it exactly as per the instructions provided ( you will need to print them). If you do not have access to the internet I suggest you contact who ever you purchased it from and ask them to help you.

I found a solution that seemed to work for my setup (Vista-Futura 200): Go to the Futura support site www.futura-support.com . Choose "Service Updates" from the left-hand Menu. Choose "Quantum® FUTURA™ (CE-200) Owners running Windows XP Service Pack 2 operating system WITH one or more of the Options (AutoPunch, CrossStitch, PhotoStitch, and HyperFont) installed". Look for the bullet-point list in the explanations. It says there: "If you own the AutoPunch Option and you could not successfully install it, download the Service Update by clicking here." Select the highlighted link, download the patch and install it. Worked fine for me, I hope it helps you, too.

Hi quackquack I was having the same problem with windows vista. If you go back on the futura website there is a patch to download which will install autopunch. Linda

IF YOU ARE RUNNING WINDOWS VISTA YOU HAVE TO DOWNLOAD FROM FUTURA SITE. HAD TO TAKE MY MACHINE AND COMPUTER TO COMPUTER SHOP TO GET SOFTWARE DOWNLOADED BECAUSE SOFTWARE IS FOR WINDOWS 98,2000 AND XP

When I looked at Futura's website yesterday getting information on installing this software on a Vista system, there are a number of things that you have to do, not just download and install the Vista patch.  After you install the Vista patch, instructions are given on how to set the program to run in WIN XP mode and then you have to install the XP patch.  Check the website for the specific instructions.  Now if I could just find a copy of the base software to install (my mother-in-laws computer crashed and no one can find the install CD -- we found the other one and the DVD video disk but not the install).  Singer wants to sell me the program again for $269.
