I recently moved the middle passenger seat over as far as it could go to eliminate the space in between the middle seats. Both of the middle seats are literally touching now. I basically wanted to put that space that leads to the third seat from the middle of the seats to the right of the middle passenger seat, next to the door. BUT.. now I can't lock the seat into place. Not sure if I should be pushing the lever release lock the opposite way I pulled it to unlock the seat in the first place, or if it should lock automatically? When I do try to push the lever in what I assume would be the locking position, I'm met with great resistance and would hate to break it if I'm not even supposed to lock it that way. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hm, seems a little WD-40 did the trick. Apparently it'll lock automatically when pressing down on the seat. I just plopped in it a couple times and it clicked. No lever pressing necessary.

Try tilting the seat forward then pushing the release button. If the release button feels normal / easier then you must hold the release until the seat is in place. The weight of the seat can cause the latch to not open. Also make sure there is no trash in the lugs on the van floor.

SOURCE: automatic door locks will not work

Probably the door actuator - a part inside the door that activates the lock, particularly if neither the interior lock switch or the remote do not lock the door.  Once the doors lock the horn will beep again - the lack of beep indicates the vehicle is not secure.

SOURCE: Seat adjustment forward and back stuck

I had this problem not to long ago, it's a very easy fix! I agree with that garr651!

There is a a thin metal wire that runs from the left & right side under the seat. Each end of the wire loops around a small hole on each track bracket and is held in place by two small washers that fit inside a grove.

Check to see if the washers are in the groves and holing each end of the wire tightly. If they're not simply slide them back into place and make sure the wire tight.

The easiest way to do this is to look under the driver seat from the back seat. Also a pair of needle nose pliers may become handy (although not necessary).

2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser. Front passenger recline how far does it recline if the back seat is removed? Driving across country with a disabled person.

Question edited for clarity and errors.
Question moved from Seat, (Spanish car company) to PT Cruiser.

You would be better to fly, or put her in the back seat with lots of pillows and use the centre lap strap as a seat belt.

If you pull the seat all the way forward and remove the headrest, you should be able to see the maximum recline, but electric seats have a stop on them.

2004 escape. want to move manual passenger seat forward 6" to carry a load that is 78" long. with seat at maximum forward position, can only get 72".

The seat only goes as far as it goes. If yo need more room than your only other option is to remove the seat or recline the seat back and hope the load will fit over the seat.

How can I move the right seat closer to the door?

Should be able to unlock the wheels and slide it over into the other slot. If no slot is there, then you can move it at all.

Back of seat adjustment

at the front of your seat(left side for the driver seat & right side for the passenger seat)rite at the curved corner in front of the seat beside your knees, the cloth seat has a hard plastic corner guard over the top directly in the middle of the corner in the front of the seat, and smack in the center is a up & down switch similar to that of the back seat window switch. it is well hidden & I had to have my head down there to discover it in the year2010, on a 1996 auto. the previous owner of the car did not believe me.

DRiver's seat won't slide forward nor to the rear

on the 99 the front seats are identical. assuming there was little change in 2000 you unbolt both seats and move the passenger seat over to the driver side. while it is out, you set the sliders manually to be in the middle position and the passenger seat will be stuck there. If you can get light up inside there you will see a cable connector has released at one end meaning it will not release the dog to permit sliding so you may have to pull it manually with a vise grip in order to move the seat forward on the sliders to get at the bolt heads in the rear. unplug the battery before you unplug the seats.

I have a old mercury villager ...i want to replace the middle row seat with last row seat ...is it posible...?

The middle row seat slides forward to the middle position (and several other positions as well.)

Owners manual explains how to slide rear seat foreard.
Remove middle row seats. Lift handle under 3rd row seat cushion on passenger side. Raise seat cushion up until it locks up. Then lift the lever on the passenger side of seat and pull seat forward until it locks in place.

if you don't have owner manual, go to motorcraft.com, pro center, tech info, owner manual.

Looking how to lower spare tire on toyota sienna van

Hello. Welcome to FixYa! Please allow us to assist you.

The procedure is as follows, to remove the spare tire from a 2WD Sienna:

Move the passenger seat as far forward as possible.
Move the passenger side middle seat back as far as possible.
Obtain your tire tool (the one you would use to remove the lugnuts)
Observe the carpeting behind the front passenger seat; you will see a small piece of carpet, like a small 'flap', that can be raised.
Under this flap is a small silver 'bolt'. Fit the lug wrench onto this bolt, and rotate it. This will lower the cable that raises the spare tire up under the area between the passenger front and rear seats.

Note: 4WD Siennas do not have any spare tires, as they came with 'run-flat' tires. Toyota did not fit a spare on the 4WD units.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance today.

Need to move front passenger seat much further back

the only way to do this is to take the seat out remove it from the rails take the rails to a machine shop and have them weld on extensions for the seat to slide on. you will also have to remove the rear seat stop so it will go further back and have them make catches in the extension for the seat to catch onto.
