Alarm is on and remote will not disable or turn off alarm. Replaced battery in remote with new batteries still would not shut off alarm. My back window on tahoe is not part of alarm so i crawled over seats and put remote under dash banged it against dash and pushed button. It worked turned off alarm. The remote is the one with screen. Remote alarm devise still won't turn on or off alarm from outside. I have misplaced the other devise so i can't use the alarm. Is there a replacement antenna for the alarm and could that be the problem? What is the toggle switch for under the dash?. Is there some other way to set alarm without remote? My alarm is a Aps997a. Please help

your old battery may not have been holding its charge I would try with the new one befor disconnecting the alarm if you still wont to disconnect the alarm its not a hard job.
what wont start the car alarm or the car? if its the car you need to shut the door. unplug your key turn the alarm back and if you havfe remote start turn it on then shut off remote start and disable the alarm should reboot the alarm system. if not unplug the battery for about a minute it will reset the alarms disable car start feature
Hi, if the alarm is armed the car not going to start,it might start and shut right back off. Have you shut all doors and hood down , take your key and lock and unlock car this should disarm alarm system. If dont work on driver side try passanger side. You might have remote reprogram. and if none of this work for you if you can stand the noise put key in switch and turn to run and leave it on for 30 mins. If i can help you futher just re post.
Thanks dodge tec
Same here... I have a 1998 Toyota Avalon XL. My car battery died. Replaced my car battery, but found out that when you unplug and plug the car battery with this car it engages in security mode (I have factory car alarm). This disables the engine and wont let you turn the ignition aka start the car engine until the remote (keyless entry) "UNLOCK" is applied. My remote is also lost so I cannot disable the alarm.
The only thing I can think of to do is unplug the battery again to disable everything (car alarms are annoying...) and call the dealer to pick the car up and perform the diagnosis. Most likely they will offer you another keyless (ugh... expensive) and/or you could ask to disable the factory car alarm.
I know thats not much help but it seems to be the only option from what I researched currently....
battery of car is zapped of energy...not sure if alarm system to blame, after driving it for a few minutes..clock and radio display lights turn off, horn can barely be heard...sometimes, motor shuts down completely. have had to put in 2 new batteries in just a matter of 2 months?...any idea what this may be?
