If the bottom screen flashes when you turn the ds on but the top screen does nothing, then you need to replace the top screen or reseat the ribbon cable.
If you have droped it, you probobaly knocked the screen from the touchpad. Dont worry, you can fix this. All you have to do is go into the bottom of the ds with a screw driver. Then move the screen back into place. If your scared you shouldnt be. Its very easy to fix and you wont screw up your ds unless you pull of the sreen but that is very hard to do.
I think you have a defective screen or the adjustment 'screw' for the topscreen on the mainboard is defective. My opinion is to send it for repair to Nintendo or a DS Lite repair service.
This is very unusual and I've never come across it. I can only think there has been some type of software corruption as you can not put the screen in backwards or upside down.
