SOURCE: reformatting an SD memory cardf

You can format the card in your camera while not connected to your computer. In fact it's recommended to do so. Read your instruction book to find out how. It should be a selection available from your "menu" button when in image review mode. Select "low-level" or "full" format, not "quick" format (quick format is only good for erasing pictures).

SOURCE: When I turn on my powershot A650IS last night the screen

If you've first tried the DISP button, AND also verified that your downloaded pictures are not also black like the screen, then it's probably just a loose flex cable connection. Please see this other post for info on how to correct the problem.

The LCD Panel has a connector which may have gone loose.

It will have to be soldered at a repair shop.

Post again if this does not solve the problem

Use a card reader to download to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can import to iphoto.

SOURCE: I have a scratch on

Does the scratch actually show on the images you take? If not, then ignore it or use a little post-processing of images to remedy it if not serious.

The lens you have is the kit version supplied to get you going. As such, spares support is less comprehensive than for the lenses Sony hope you'll upgrade to.

In this instance though, the front lens is available as a spare part but is not cheap, you could buy a complete used replacement lens for less money or an ex-display model with a full warranty for about the same total cost. If you were able to remove and refit the scratched front element without seriously damaging the rest of the lens and without introducing lots of dust, you'd need to pay to have it optically collimated afterwards. Now that there are far fewer lens/camera repair shops worldwide it's not as easy to find trustworthy places able to do it, and many would refuse to guarantee the outcome on a DIY repaired lens. If the lens is not collimated the images will be worse than using the scratched lens.

You therefore have three realistic options;-

1. Ignore the damage as unless it's really serious, it's unlikely to show in almost all images. Fit a protective Skylight Filter to prevent further damage.

2. Replace the lens with a used or ex-demo unit, or treat the damage as an excuse to upgrade to a better quality model. Your damaged lens will still have a resale value to partially offset your costs.

3. Send the lens to the official Sony repair centre in your country. If you look at their website for your country you'll see that they offer fixed cost repairs which you can then compare to your first two options.

I can see my pictures in the camera but i cannot see the picture if i connect it to my computer

Install the software from the CD that came with the camera (or download it from Canon's website), Plug the camera in using the USB cable and the computer should go through it's Found New Hardware routine.

What you do now depends on what software and operating system you have. The easiest is probably to install Picasa and use the import function.

I downloaded the CD on my computer but my computer isn't finding the camera. so I am unable to download my pictures from the powershot A460.

You can download the photos directly using free picasa software's IMPORT tab.
Another method is to connect the camera Start. My Computer and you can see the camera as an external drive D: or E: Click on that and folders within until you see your photos. make sure to save extra copies of the enclosing photo folder.

I can't download new photos onto Zoombrowser in Windows 7 with my Canon powershot SD600. Have downloaded drivers but still no luck.

Hello,

is zoombrowser something that you must use? another good program would be picasa for example, or you could just copy and manage the pictures yourself.

you will see the camera as a removeable storage device inside you 'computer' or 'my computer' folder which is available from the desktop or from the start menu.

inside you will see a DCIM folder or similar, and possibly another folder or two inside that and then the pictures.

if thats too complex, give picasa a try, it has a very good import from camera feature and is great with pictures overall.

Download software drive i cannot import pictures

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Canon ZoomBrowser or Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Powershot a710is - connecting to device problem

Have you tried downloading with a different software?
* Picasa is one option (download from www.picasa.com)
Otherwise, you could try and import the photos using Window's Digital Camera Import Wizard

If any of these two methods work, then it is PhotoShot that has the issue. Otherwise, it might be the camera.

BTW, what OS are you using?

Automatically deleting photos

Use picasa...the easiest software to load the pictures on your computer. In the import wizard there is an option to specify whether to delete or keep them.

My pictures wont import

Google's Picasa program should be able to get those images for you, http://picasa.google.com/ (it won't be picky like Canon's Software).

If worst comes to worst:
1. Open My Computer
2. Right click on the memory card
3. From the popup menu, click "Search"
4. In the left hand pane, you should see something reading "What do you want to search for"
5. Below that, click the item that reads, "pictures, music, video"
6. Start the search
7. Once the search is finished If your pictures and video appear copy and paste everything to your desktop (or wherever you want the photos)

Additionally, once you get everything off the card you should probably format it using the camera (see your instructions manual) to make sure you don't get that error again
