A change in admin settings

I am trying to change the outgoing name on a fax and when I go into Utilities to access the administrator settings, the only option numbers that appear are 4 check life and 8 banner printing. Is there another way to get into admin or to change the outgoing name on the fax? Thanks

Restore my Mx-b382 setting to factory setting

Probably you can access the settings through the operation screen on the machine.
There you may find this reset setting.

I found a manual here:
https://www.sharp.eu/cps/rde/xbcr/documents/documents/om/34_ppc/MXB382-SC_OM_Start-Guide_GB.pdf

There in it says:
Factory default passwords
When accessing the system settings, the administrator password is required to log in with administrator rights. The system settings can be configured in the Web pages as well as on the operation panel. To access the system settings using the Web pages, a password is also required.
Factory default administrator password is “admin”
Store a new administrator password as soon as the machine is installed.
Once the administrator password has been changed, the new password is required to restore the factory default password. Take care to remember the new password.
Factory default passwords (Web pages)
There are two factory default accounts: "Administrator" and "User". A person who logs in as an "Administrator" can configure all settings in the Web pages. In addition, an administrator can restrict access to other settings by enabling "User" accounts.
Default:
users with password users
admin with password admin

If this has been changed when the machine was installed you have a challenge to find out who changed it and if this person still knows it.

Changing password to my router

Hello you have not entered the routers name.

Basicly it`s just to visit the routers homepage for downloading a user manual.

Here is some homepages that tells how:

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/f/change-router-password.htm

You will probably have to hold the reset button from 10 to 30 seconds depending on your brand of router. If you hold it for too short a time it will simply reset the router but won't revert back to its factory default settings. On some routers you may have to use a pin or thumbtack to press the button if it is recessed inside the router.

2. Connect a computer to one of your router's Ethernet ports (but not the one that says WAN)
Most router's have a web browser-accessible administrator page that you must log in to in order to access the router's configuration settings. Some routers disable administration via wireless, so you will need to ensure that you are connected to the router via an Ethernet cable before attempting to access the router's configuration page.

3. In the browser address bar, enter the IP address of your router's administration interface
Most routers have what is called a non-routable internal IP address such as 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1. This is an internal address that cannot be accessed from the internet.
Here are the standard admin interface addresses used by some of the more popular wireless router manufactures. You may have to consult your specific router's manual for the correct address. The following list is some of the default IP addresses based on my research and may not be accurate for your specific make or model:
Linksys - 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1
DLink - 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1
Apple - 10.0.1.1
ASUS - 192.168.1.1
Buffalo - 192.168.11.1
Netgear - 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.0.227
4. Enter the default administrator login name (usually "admin") followed by the default administrator password.
You can locate the the default admin name and password for your specific router by checking the manufacturer's website or by Googling "Default Admin Password" followed by your router's brand name and model.
5. Click on the "Admin" page from your router's configuration page and create a strong password

Be sure you enter a strong complex password for your router's admin password. If you ever looe this password you will have to repeat the steps above.
If you didn't lose you router password but just don't know how to change it, you can skip steps 1 and 2 and enter the admin user name and password that you have into step 4. This will allow you to change your wireless router's password without wiping out all your other router's settings.

Good luck

I dont know who to change the phone number on the out going cover page so the receiver has a fax number to send back papers sent

If you don't have a User's Guide, go to the Brother web site and download it. But as a quick fix, you can access the menu function and navigate to settings and find the outgoing fax number place. Then you can change the number and name as you desire.

How do i change my security settings

The first thing you need to do is log into your router. In order to do that you need to access the IP address that is being broadcasted by your router. Generally it is 192.168.1.1. When it asks for your user name and password, you will need to input administrator and the administrator password or admin and the admin password. Then you should be able to get into your router and change the security settings. Though depending on what they are, you should be just fine unless it is unsecure, in which case you would need to log in and change that.

I'm trying to adjust the power management options on my XP pro Compaq Presario. I can change the options when using my administrator account, but those changes don't seem to become effective for the other...

try setting the power management options in the BIOS(hardware based, access it by pressinfg DEL or F2 or F1 when booting,)

instead of using the windows feature.

settings once made as an admin in windows should be available for all users, else just leave the name for the user but upgrade the user status from power user or guest status to admin, enter changes, reboot, logon with old name, downgrade account from admin to user or whatsoever, that might do the trick...

How can I make my Netgear wireless router secure?

Depending on the model of your WiFi router, you can usually access the Administration panel by going to one of the following addresses:

http://192.168.1.1/
http://192.168.0.1/
http://192.168.0.254/
http://10.0.0.1/

The username and password vary from model to model, usually it is username:admin/root,password:admin/blank. Check your products manual for any information regarding accessing the administration panel.

After you login, you can easily find the settings under a tab or button, usually named "Security" or "Encryption". As far as settings go, it can greatly change, you'll have to refer to the documents that came with your router, or goto the manufacturer's support site.
