When the lines are only on the display and not in the photo you shoot, please try to live with it, unless the camera is still in warranty. Repairs will cost from one to a couple of hundred dollar. I don't think it is worth it, unless you have a very expensive system camera or DSLR.
The error can become worse, when the camera was wet or made a drop. If so, I think you are better of with a new one then a repair.
You can view the photos from the camera. OR Remove the memory card from the camera and plug it into an USB card reader. Connect the card reader to the USB port on your computer, the computer will see the memory card as an external storage device, open the folders and photos on the memory card and you can copy them to your computer or just view the photos.
Enter the cameras menu system and navigate to the icon on the left that looks like a pencil. Press mulit-selecter to right then down to image review then press right again, Choose "on". Exit all Menus and give a try.

I was wondering the same when I first got my EOS. Learned later that the digital pictures do not have date/time stamp on the front of the photos like film cameras' photos. Details of digital photos are stored digitally in each image file's EXIF.
If you want to print photos showing the date/time, some software including Zoombrowser EX can do that. In Zoombrowser, select the photos you want to print. In Step 2 (Printer & Layout Settings), in the bottom left, you can choose Date and/or Time and even the colour of the font.
when downloading from my EOS 350D I get the message
'Camera launcher exe has stopped working'
I have Vista Home Edition
I am getting desperate to find a solution!!
