Drum bearings, check and investigate, remove drive belt and then rotate, if still noisy then yes its the drum bearings, if the noise stops when the belt removed the motor bearings are faulty costly repair on most models, sorry oh there is also the possibility there is something lodged within the drum cavity between the lining and the drum casing
sorry my mistake i was speaking generally so others could relate to the problem if they had similar symptoms,
check to see if there is any play in the shaft of the motor, does the drum move the way it shouldn't, you know rattle if you pull it, its till sounds like its a bearing, its just like you said its part of the motor,
sorry thats not what you wanted to hear, i tried, best of luck.

i agree i think its the bearings but as this is a direct drive system ie it has a brushless dc motor that rotates the drum without belt its hard to narrow the problem without calling out. looks like i'm going to have to spend some money
My LG WM-1290FHB washer is also loud on the spin cycle! If it is the bearings of either the drum or motor, where can i buy replacement bearings or should i buy a new washer?
Thankyou
