Yes. With the camera turned on, press the Menu button, and then scroll left or right until you are on the settings menu (hammer and wrench at the top). Scroll down until you are on the date/time setting option, and press the SET button. Use the left/right buttons to select month, day, year, hour, minute, and use the up/down buttons to change settings. Press SET to save, then press Menu to exit.

Date stamp is not available

Try setting the picture resolution to "Postcard" (1200 pixels width). Then try turning the date/time stamp on. For Canon's, this feature is only available for use in this lowered resolution. Have no idea why they designed it that way.

Corrupted data shows up on displaying images. Even put in another card and it says corrupt data. Is there a problem with the camera or card?

Believe it or not, the time/date battery has expired and is the cause of this problem for the S400/410. Unfortunately this little button battery is located inside your camera. Fortunately Canon will fix this for free. Please see the Canon advisory at this link.

Image size (L, M1, M2, M3, S, Postcard) must be set to Postcard. Then make sure that on the Record menu Date Stamp is set to Date or Date/Time.

You'll need to check your owner's manual for directions for turning that feature off. As for the pictures that already have the date on them, Photoshop Elements or any similar photo editing software can easily remove them. Also, if the date is near enough to the edge of the photo, you might be able to just crop it out.

Won't set date and time

Greetings bpm123,

My suggestion is to simply turn the date time stamp off in the setup menu. In reviewing the instruction manual, it appears you can obtain instructions on how to do this starting on page 21.

I hope this helps!

Thank you,

Dorothy
