Crown boiler i have a crown freeport odv. on startup (after being dormant for 6 months), the boiler started but then chokes and dies after 3 - 5 secs. when it dies the exhaust comes back thru the front. i've cleaned the inside of boiler, new filter and new nozzle. my next step is to remove the vent pipe and inspect for blockage. anything else i should inspect. my service call is 7 days away.

Follow this chart troubleshooting and fix it. God bless you
est and replace a high-limit cutoff:

  1. Disconnect power to the heater at the electrical panel and post a sign warning others not to turn it on.
  2. Remove the upper access panel and push the reset button.
  3. Replace the access panel and turn the power back on. If the water is hot, the reset was the problem. If not, you'll need to turn the power off again and reopen the access panel.
  4. Use a multimeter to test the cutoff terminals for continuity. If faulty, replace with an exact replacement part.
Drain a tank:
  1. Shut off power at the electrical panel and post a sign warning others not to turn it on.
  2. Close the cold-water supply valve and open a hot-water faucet somewhere in the house (to speed draining).
  3. Attach a garden hose to the drain valve and run it outside the house.
  4. Open the drain valve and allow all water to drain out.
  5. To refill the tank, close the drain valve tightly and open the cold-water supply valve. Also open a nearby hot-water faucet. When a steady stream of water flows from that faucet, the tank is full and the faucet can be closed.
  6. Once the tank is full, turn the electrical power back on.
Test and replace a relief valve:
  1. Lift the spring lever on the valve to fill a small cup. Check the cup for sediment.
  2. If no water spurts out, or if water continues to drip after the valve is released, replace the valve.
  3. Cut power at the electrical panel and post a sign warning others not to turn it on. Close the cold-water supply valve.
  4. Drain a few gallons of water from the tank.
  5. Unscrew and remove the discharge pipe if used.
  6. Loosen the relief valve with a pipe wrench, then remove the valve by hand.
  7. Apply pipe tape to the threads of the replacement valve and screw it into the tank by hand. Tighten it with a pipe wrench. Screw the discharge pipe (if any) into the valve outlet.
  8. Refill the water heater and restore electrical power.
Replace a drain valve:
  1. Shut off power at the electrical panel and post a sign warning others not to turn it on.
  2. Close the cold-water supply valve and drain the water heater completely (see above).
  3. Unscrew the drain valve with a pipe wrench.
  4. Replace the drain valve with an identical unit wrapping the end with pipe tape.
  5. Refill the tank and restore electricity.

SOURCE: open vent central heating

yes it is possible toupgrade the system to a sealed one using a system boiler as you mentioned. the thing to bear in mind is to upgrade the radiator valves to pressure rated ones 10bar.
The probable cause of the over heating is down to the system being sludged up/cold feed blocked, or possible pump circulating problem?
I would recommend the installation of a magna clean filter to help keep the new boiler clear from system debris.I would definately power flush the system, if the system is a twin two port valve system then a automatic bypass should be fitted, all of this done by a corgi registered gas engineer

If you have to push the reset button it suggests that the boiler/water heater is over heating. What boiler is installed?

Possibly due to a power failure, control unit needs to be reset. Hit reset button. Hold for 30 seconds. Also no fire typically due to nozzle clogged, no fuel which means control will shut down. Water in fuel will also shut boiler down. Clogged filter will decrease fuel flow. Electric eye face is dirty which will also shut it down. If you have a two line system, open up bleeder and see if you get a good flow. Check electrodes for burned ends or out of gap specs.

SOURCE: I have a worcester 28cdi combi boiler. The

Your boiler has an expansion vessel that is like a bladder full of air. Yours has lost it's air pressure. Check your manual for this vessel and where the valve is to re-inflate it and what pressure to inflate to. It should have a simple tyre valve, pump it back up (usually to about 1 bar after releasing the water pressure) and should be all fixed. If you can't re-inflate the bladder is holed and the expansion vessel will need replacing.

New Vaillant 360 eco plus boiler, takes almost 3/4s an hour for rads to come up to a decent temp. Hot water is fine. Called out install Engineer who is an excellent tradesman but he says everything

We have just had our old system boiler replaced with a vaillant ecotec plus 837 and sounds like a similar working operation to ours. At first I was a little concerned, but I was told by our installer that he was told by vaillant that these very latest boilers size the system on start up for about 10 mins, then take temperature to target flow which you set boiler at. So even by setting target flow temperature very high you still get the initial sizing cycle, which ours was about 30-35c temp. These boilers seem to run biased for efficiency as after a while they modulate the boiler burner down and the radiators run more on the side of warm than really hot like the old type boilers. You also get better efficiency as at lower temperature the boiler condenses better. You will also find you get a more constant temperature in your home rather than over shoots. I was concerned at first, shame there was no info/explanation in user manual as people do need to know that this is normal operation. We are used to ours now, took a month and by the way these boilers can make a creaking noise but was told this normal expansion/ contraction but annoying when sited in bedroom cupboard. Best of luck!

The boiler sounds like it wants to start but it does not startup .that is the only information the customer gave me over the phone.we installed the boiler about 2 years ago.

try cleaning the flame rod and igniter with a cloth (do not use sand paper or emery cloth). Look for evidence of a water leak inside the unit.

My new tankless WH stopped working. It gives hot water for about 15 sec, then starts flashing C7 12 or C2 11. How can I fix this, We had it for a month now & it worked before.

11 The Gas Shutoff Valve is not opened
completely.

12 Gas Service has been interrupted.
LP Gas is running low. (LP models only)

I think C7 is where the startup sequence ended...and then you get the error code

If less than a month old...contact your customer support

Electronic fire. fires up , Shuts down after 5 sec.

it sounds more like you have the ignitor wire shorting out on metal and won't allow it to stop trying to light the burner, hold the wire away from any metal and see if it helps, if this isn't the caee your circuit board needs to be replaced,
