It's possible that the box is dead and need's to be replaced. One thing you can try is rebooting the box by unplugging the power cord and then plugging it back in. You can also try plugging it into a different outlet. Are you sure it's the box that's dead and not the tv?

Hope the monitor is not placed upside down. Just joking.
The power outage must have interfered with the control and signals. Best to try the reset and registration process described on page 17 of user guide under help.

Try and loosen the screw, and use a magnet to pullout the broken piece. It likely slightly bent in there so you may need a pair of tweezers as well
