Any coffee brewer will bring water to a boil and expel the hot water over grounds or into a container. This water is sometimes under great steam pressure and is released by the user with a knob, handle, etc. These pressurised machines all make noises but should be within the normal operating range while using the machine. If it makes noise other than when in use then there may be an issue. Have a technician check for safety reasons as you are dealing with a 'steam BOILER' . For drip makers there should be no pressure other than the normal 'glug-glug' sounds while brewing. A commercial brewer will just have water sprinkling down into the basket and possible 'whine' noise as the tank refills. But if it's not your normal noise then have a tech check it out.
