SOURCE: Bosch Axxis washer drum won't turn. Fills and

Excellent information, Dennis Weid! This is exactly how it came apart. Follow his instructions and it is an easy job. My motor wasn't completely failed as it would run if I had the back off with washer on the spin cycle and gave the drum pulley a 'push start'. But it was shooting sparks as he described. On disassembly I saw that the commutator was very heavily grooved. It was to the point the wear indicator was nearly flush with the surface, like the tread on a bald tire. Time for a new motor.

96 pont grand prix has an intermedate starting oroblem. most times it starts fine but couple times a week when ya turn the key it does nothing. has new starter , new alternator, new battery. fuel pump hums...

There can be one problem among several parts on your car and it involves getting the starting signal to your starter.

Working backwards from the starter there is a starter Solenoid and on some GM products it comes with the new starter. On other setups there is a separate box solenoid which has a main cable from the battery going into it and coming out of it going to the starter.

Either setup has a one or two trigger wires that are small guage. These carry the starter signal from the Safety Interlock and Ignition switch. The Safety Interlock can be connected with a foot on the Brake pedal or clutch pedal depending on the trans,

When the Safety interlock connects, it allows the signal from the Ignition switch(Start position) to reach the starter solenoid and engage the starter.

You could have a bad Ignition switch, Safety Interlock, or starter solenoid. It can be a matter of adjustment of worn parts. You have purchased the expensive parts already.

Its a toss up over which to do first. Vehicles all seem to break at the worst time. If you have time to test the power going to the starter solenoid, the trigger wire, then you can eliminate or confirm a bad solenoid. Then you are faced with why you have a dead trigger wire.

It may only be an adjustment problem or the Ignition switch or Interlock.

I hope my solution helps, please rate my info.

Trying to locate safety start switch on a Honda CRV 2003

The starter safety switch, also called a clutch interlock switch on a manual ****** is usually located under the clutch pedal near the top where it goes through the firewall. Depressing the clutch activates it.

My 1996 Nissan Altima Won't start, The battery is Fine But When I push in the clutch and turn it over it doesn't do anything at all

Clutch safety switch maybe . There is a electrical circuit that won't let Battery voltage go to the starter unless the clutch pedal is pressed . The switch should be on top of the clutch pedal arm . You would need to lay on the drivers floor board an look up under the dash . Two wires , green with white stripe - this is the B+ side of the switch , the other side is black . trying to start the vehicle there should be battery voltage , you can use a volt meter to test it . You can also check the other wire as well . If there is no B+ voltage , up stream from the clutch switch is a clutch interlock relay . Here is a web site for free wiring diagrams , do you know what they are ?
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter the vehicle info. Year , make , model an engine size . Under system click engine , then subsystem click starting . Click the blue link .You will see the ignition switch , the other things i mention . Do you know how to use a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ?

Can't get Shifter out of park on a 2005 F150 ford Truck.

If this is a new body style 2004 ( not a heritage or lightning ) did you check fuse #16 ? This is the fuse for the shift interlock switch on the brake pedal.

IF this fuse is good, check the shift interlock section of the brake pedal position ( BPP ) switch ( on the side of the brake pedal lever, usually has a yellow c-clip cover on it ).
The wires for the shift interlock circuit
Fuse #16 to Tan w/ REd stripe wire
Pink w/ light green stripe to the shift interlock solenoid.

If there is power on the Tan w/ REd stripe wire, press the brake pedal down, and check the pink w/ light greens stripe wire for power ( switch is closed when brake pedal is pressed.

If you do not have power on the pink w/ light greens stripe wire, you need a new BPP switch.
If you have power on the pink w/ light greens stripe wire, you need a new shift interlock solenoid.

1995 audi 90 will push start but won't start with key wonder if there is a switch or something that might cause this ?

Check the clutch interlock switch on the clutch pedal arm. You can jump across this switch to defeat the interlock function as a test to verify the switch is the problem. Also try pushing the clutch all the way to the floorboard when turning the ignition to start. If the switch is good, then check for power at the starter solenoid and relay.

Location Of Starter relay switch

sometimes its the simple things. On the foot pedal for the clutch are rubber grommets that push the switch in on the manual trans. they get old and fall off or develop holes in them so the switch does not get depressed.

2002 Civic Dx Clutch?

i have just replaced an 03 civic ex clutch and transmission bearings due to a customer being too harsh on it. It sounds like its got a little life left in it if you are easy on it.

if there is adjustment in this model use the below walkthrough to adjust it.

adjust the clutch pedal,

1. if you look up on the top of the clutch pedal, the first thing you should see if a clutch pedal position switch, and right behind it there is a locknut, looens the locknut. once you loosen it, back off on the pedal position switch or adjusting bolt untill it no longer touches the clutch pedal.

2. now behind the clutch pedal, there is a pushrod. and on that pushrod, there is a locknut, loosen that locknut. Now turn the pushrod in or out to get the desired height and stroke at the clutch pedal.

The freeplay is the amount of push on the clutch pedal to where is starts to have resistance from the top. I have usually been told it should be set at 1 1/2-2 inches of freeplay.

Once you set it, tighten the locknut on the pushrod. With the clutch pedal released, turn in the clutch pedal position switch untill it contacts the clutch pedal. then turn it an additional 3/4 to 1 turn. And tighten the locknut.

Now on top of the clutch pedal switch, there is a clutch interlock switch. Loosen the locknut on that switch. then press the clutch pedal to the floor.

release the clutch pedal 15-20 mm (0.59-0.79 in) from the fully pressed position, and hold it there. adjust the position of the clutch interlock switch so the engine will start with the clutch pedal in this position. then tighten the locknut on that switch.

Hope this helps

Clutch check

you have civic SI type R with the K20A engine and 6sp transmission? correct?

yes the clutch is adjustable.

  1. loosen the clutch pedal position switch(lower of the 2 switches) locknut and back off the clutch pedal position switch.
  2. loosen the clutch push-rod locknut and turn the push-rod in or out to get the desired height and stroke of the pedal.
  3. tighten the push-rod locknut
  4. with the clutch pedal released, turn the clutch pedal position switch in until it contacts the clutch pedal.
  5. turn the clutch pedal position switch in an additional 3/4 to 1 turn.
  6. tighten the clutch pedal position switch locknut.
  7. loosen the clutch interlock switch(the upper switch) locknut and then the interlock switch.
  8. press the clutch pedal to the floor.
  9. release the pedal about 1/2 in. from the fully depressed position, and hold it there. adjust the position of the interlock switch so that the engine will start with the clutch pedal in this position.
  10. tighten the interlock switch locknut.
clutch pedal stroke should be: 5.1 - 5.5 in
clutch pedal height should be: 7.76 in

if adjusting the clutch doesn't help with the transmission feeling notchy, may be the syncros.
