How many red flashes? Mine is flashing twice every 5 seconds and ended up getting a tv engineer to have a look. He has confirmed a faulty transformer approx. £120 to replace
The color signal consists of Red, Green and Blue. Those three colors, at various degrees, make all the other colors on your screen.
If you have a BRIGHT green screen it's best you don't operate your set. If it's just tinted green then there is a problem on the CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) drive board. Do check your "tint" setting and see if someone misadjusted it. If that isn't it then you need to have your set on an electronics bench and get an estimate for repair.
this is the (OVP) over voltage protection, the unit goes into standby mode, there is a problem in power supply circuit, you need a ohm meter ,check T603 & R672.......you can get parts at Encompass Disturbution #1-800-638-3328 hope this helps.good luck
Loud noise is possibly made by Degausing Coil to demagnetize picture tube and its normal.
Green tint shows picture tube is bit weak in electron emission due to its age and takes time to present good white balance result (good colors)
For the last week my TV has been going to a black screen for 10 seconds or so then the picture returns. It has been continual. Last night it stopped going to black screen, but now the standby light flashes 5 consecutive times and the color went haywire. A lot of red and everything that is suppose to be black is green.
I did a soft and hard reset with no success. What's wrong and is it worth fixing? Bought new in November 2002.
Jar-Head, bad news, the picture tube has a mild short in the green cathode, tech can come out and try to restore it but it`s usually a futile attempt on sony tubes, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, BMW Rider
This may be a bad crt or picture tube. Take a good look at the picture when it's on and see if it has a pinkish or greenish tint. This is easiest to see if you turn the color adjustment all the way down. If it looks like the tint is green or pink and the focus isn't great then it's probably a bad crt. Not worth repairing if its the tube.
