I live in Canada so I store my Benz for the winter in heated dry storage. Last October I put the car in storage. With the doors locked I disconnected the battery in the trunk and then closed the trunk and manually locked it. Last week I manually unlocked the trunk, reconnected the battery, and was greeted by flashing lights. My remote door opener would not work. I manually unlocked the drivers side, got in the car, put the key in the ignition. Could not turn key. Could not disarm security system as per the manual. Battery tests fully charged. Nearest Mercedes dealer is 2 hours distant. The car has given me no trouble up til now. I could use some help!

Hey Anon, Are you SURE you got the correct belt?? Something does not sound right about this...???... Double check all the pulleys when the belts are off...the alternator should spin freely, all the the idler pulleys should spin free..(ones that just spin and guide but are NOT connected to anything)!! This very thing happened to me...it was a $12 idler pulley that did nothing but spun and guided the belt..
Your car is nothing fancy I take it, not a race car?, diesel? Just a normal car that burns gas. Then it will take normal oil, in the 10w40 weight range. Any brand but jiffy store, although it meets SAE standards, the weight is the important part, it depends on where you live and what season it is. If you live in Canada and it is winter time, 10w40 might be too thick, you should go with 5w30 instead, in Massachusetts, straight 30 weight is ok, down here in Florida, 10w40 is a must. Hot. So, go by that heat range, you should be all set. Hope this helps.
Check your spark plugs to make sure they are dry. If they're wet they'll extinguish the spark before it can make contact with the fuel, thus preventing starting. If your plugs are really wet, leave them out of the cylinder heads and use compressed air to dry the combustion chamber and plugs. If compressed air is not available, leave them open to air dry. Once everything is dry, reconnect your spark plugs and try to start again.
